Especially since either route has MC as the one in control, so to have Katara just suddenly able to assert it over him like that is out of place and quite frankly irritating.
This. Even in his nice romance path, Avatar boy is pretty much always in charge of stuff. Only the spirits fuck with him, but they obviously know and have power over him. Katara suddenly being on the level with the spirits and being like "lol I know stuff you don't and you don't get to know" without him pushing for more info is pretty irritating as a plot device.
Does anyone know how to beat the maze quest it wont allow me to do anything after I beat Ajala

Ok I'm confused. I picked the love path for Book 3 but looks like I will finish with the slave ending. How do you know if you're actually on the love path or can I have a love path save for book 3? I am interested in the different paths but it always ends with slave.

I'm not sure, even though I was on the love path, it played identical scenes to the slave path. I'm not aware if the game gives you an option to change paths mid playthrough.

There is no option to switch routes. Sometimes it's hard to ascertain which route you're currently on, because a moderate amount of content is the same or similar in both routes.
I think it would be great if your save files would be accordingly marked, something like "Book 3 Slave Route" or something.

Got it, I did a fresh new game start and repicked the love path and I am already noticing the differences.

Hello, sorry if this has been asked and answered but I can't for the life of me find a "search within thread" feature like on most other BBSes.
Anyway, I'm completely stuck on the Book 3 slave route, can't get Toph past 4/5. I've upgraded the hospital, I think I've done everything else, I just don't know what's left to do. I've done like a dozen of the public scams so that should be way up, not sure what's left.
