The infodumps aren't that bad, though I do read David Weber novels so maybe my definition of "overly long infodumps" is skewed by that.

There is indeed a variable. I suspect that Nicole will get magically healed, or already has as a side effect of being near the MC or in the other world.

Ya, in an old version that was true, But now you can't do that to her until after she's been to the halfway-to-magicland house (and presumably your magic and/or Veen fixed her up).

We don't know yet, but I assume pregnancy is being tracked for a reason.
