Game got updated from v1.5 -> v1.7.
Here are the highlights of what's changed:
New Content
v1.8 Early access will be available on Patreon later tonight.
NOTE: Due to a bunch of variables not existing in your previous saves, it is recommended to start a NEW save from scratch. A lot of parts are now self-healing but i can't guarantee every old save will get the necessary information.
If you're ever stuck waiting for someone to call, try traveling anywhere with the worldmap. I'm working on a fix for this in the next update.

- New restaurant mini-game.
- 3 new quests for Tim, expanding his main arc.

- Fully implemented vending machine at the gas station (chaos box).
- Custom ambience per location world feels alive.
- Mall + school screens get Local Nav buttons for smoother exploration.
- Skipping is BACK players can finally fast-forward smoothly again.
- Questlog now has dynamic schedule awareness (no more confusion about when something is available).
- New fallback system to prevent softlocks or accidental menu returns.
- Sound overhaul cleaner ambience, extra SFX, normalized UI audio.
- Brenda's calls are now fully reliable thanks to new safeguards. (On NEW saves!)
- General stability boost across ambience, dares, and early-game scenes.

So, still no new Stepmom content? Also do we really need to be forced to see lesbian scenes in the game? Because I am sure we cant skip the mom/Elke content, can we?
this game needs to be gutted and totally rebuilt it doesnt work right even after a restart you click on your stepparents house click on stepmom and it pushes you back into the city but the statements are still there it just needs to be redone its a total mess

Interracial is definately on the table, i'm even willing to add some content for it by next patch.
Bestiality... I know.. we have a magical cat and we explore the supernatural a little. But i still think FV is too grounded and human-focused to add it.
how do I fix the game going back to main menu after a new game? (as soon as I click any location)

That's not supposed to happen.
My advice would be to delete every instance of Fractured Veil you have installed on your computer (including older versions and this one.), clean install the new version, that way you clear any persistent data from older corrupted versions and then start a new game.
Let me know if that solves it, if the issue persists.. please post your log file so i can have a closer look.

the first time it worked flawlessly, then I installed gallery unlocker didn't work so I deleted that version. I re-downloaded the whole game and unpacked it after I deleted %appdata% folder, still goes back to menu every time I try to click on any location.

No need to delete it, just don't load them. They wont be compatible especially the scheduled calls & quests wont trigger correctly.Should I delete the old saves folder too?

Yeah, i'm not sure about unofficial mods so i can't support you on that. But, they often modify persistent data in your Ren'Py environment. Try these steps:
- Delete the persistent folder again:
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\FracturedVeil - Make sure no old version of the game remains anywhere.
- Re-extract v1.7 into a fresh new folder.
- Start a new game (do not load anything made while the unlocker was installed).
The log.txt file will be useless because FV wont log anything related to it. So most likely, it's corrupted and simple false returns to the main menu.
Or.. at least that's my guess, because i haven't encountered issues like these and EA players haven't reported it either.
