I understand it's a VN, but still, what a script!... I read a lot of literature, and some scripts make my eyes hurt. "...the nearest house was 500 km away..." I don't know, but going to live in a place where the nearest human being is 500 km away... I could have said 2, 3 km, but that's such a distance... It's not very intelligent because I can think of many scenarios: a medical emergency, for example.
Let's suppose the story they're telling us takes place somewhere in North America. What sane citizen would be capable of living so far from civilization? Because if the cost of an ambulance ride in a city is between $400 and $2,000, I can't imagine what it would be like 500 km away. If we're talking about a helicopter, I can't even imagine it.
In my country, Spain, we have full coverage for healthcare and emergencies (except if the emergency was caused by negligence by the person), but in that country... It's scary to get sick...
It would also be important to supply food and water, to convince the electricity and telephone companies that it's profitable to provide those services even if you live so far away. I hope they "fine-tune" the script. Good luck
