I do think people here who aren't even paying for the patreon being mad about the creators seeking Steam money are particularly eyeroll-worthy, even if this was a bad decision

People complaining about the funny stunt that the devs pulled with Julia. As if the story ever had any importance for them (the devs).
This has always been a really sexy-looking mindless fuckfest. It will continue being a mindless fuckfest, but with the original background story distorted and mutilated.
Now you can complain all you want, but the key to great success in this genre shouldn't be just being able to put together a slideshow of gorgeous renders with stunning females. As consumers of these games, we should be more demanding. If we are not, then we shouldn't complain when these things happen.

It's like this game is intentionally designed to be the most agreeable porn game ever. They put jailbait in it, because it's popular with a certain crowd and they removed it for the potential of a larger player base. It's not like the story of a "highschool gamer girl" was ever supposed to be high brow.
What's weird is how butthurt some of these changes make them seem to be. I don't believe that an admin on Steam told them that pink furniture is a big no no. Seems like an overreaction to a policy like "no kids".
But what exactly should we be demanding? I don't think anybody was fapping to Julia's well constructed personality. This game was the perfect example that shallow games sell well from the beginning. Go an inch deeper and people start talking about "controversial fetishes".

None of these games are high brow, not even the big ones with the "good stories." Not only are they not high brow, they're not even good stories. They're serviceable to deliver material to fap to and anyone pretending otherwise is kidding themselves.

Totally agree with this paragraph.
Most of those changes were absolutely idiotic. Someone in that 10 people team needs to go to the brain cell store urgently.
If you re-read my post, that was exactly my point.
Also, I'm not saying that anyone should or must be demanding anything. Everyone is free to ask for and enjoy whatever they like.
Personally, I demand better constructed stories as opposed to shallow, mindless ones, but that's my preference.
Now, those who enjoyed Julia's shallow characterization, and the game's general lack of any interesting story, shouldn't complain now if the devs decide of their own accord to mutilate even the little characterization that there was. Why wouldn't they?

The problem is changing the game in too many different ways for money. If they wanted to go on Steam and make more money, go for it. But I feel like they are changing too much. Show me where in Steam's rules that female characters can't have pink rooms? Or female characters can't be cute?

As I said in another comment. Changing the game in order to put it on another platform when you're already crowd funding it, feels kind of weird. But it's a business so I understand why they would want to have their game on steam as well. The rules on patreon in regards to adult content are way more strict than steam's. If the game is good on patreon, I highly doubt that it would have any issues on steam. There are plenty of japanese adult games with questionable content there. Changes like removing certain lines where the mc says that he thinks she is too young for him, makes perfect sense. But most of the other changes are just idiotic, and that is the frustrating part.
I agree with the rest of what you posted, as I basically stated in an earlier post - definitely an overcorrection as it is. I just can't stand people who are here on a site where we get games for free complaining about "the developers being greedy"
I get that changing things always have negative feedback to some dere, especially since Julia has a nice fanbase.
However this kind of changes, such as being 19 or the color of her room does not seem overly important about hercharacter to me. Her personality, her looks won't change and they are more important I think then a black or pink wall... unless someone gets off to pink rooms XD
But I might be in a better position since I'm more of an Alyssa and Sue fan from the main girls.
