This is a bit random and I might be way off but, is that Ashe's dad in her Halloween picture? I just noticed a pretty huge-looking dude which vaguely matches the description of her dad in the Chapter 4 demo so I thought "hmm I wonder".

Good guess! But, I actually teased Ashe's parents in on the Patreon. I still need to tinker with their designs a bit, but I see Ashe's parents as more midwest casual than the suited gent in the Halloween special.

General Update: I'm closing in on the end of Brittani's photoshoot scene, and with it, the update. Targeting next weekend for the $5 release, and hoping to have a Beta version to my $15 tier by Wednesday. Stuck at my day job today, so I'm currently doing a little polishing of the script, checking variables and such.

Hey, hey! Posted another . Not much in the way of new info - render count is now at 700+, and I'm working on finishing up two of Britt's erotic paths today. After which I'll just need to complete a small epilogue, and her "friendship" path's ending. So, still on track for a Saturday release for patrons.

Also! A patron asked me if I planned to do any specials for Christmas. It wouldn't really make sense for FiN, since it's clearly Spring/Summer during the game. And I can't really just conflate another reason for the MC to do some Christmas stuff. But, I got to thinking about bringing back another character..

It would be delightful. Can't wait for the professor to meet her parents and tell them how they got together after he drinks too much egg nog.

Not gonna lie, I kinda hate it. The Student Loan didn't really interest me. The story was by the numbers and the characters were pretty flat; there was a hint of some interesting dynamics when they first encountered each other in Vegas, but that didn't really flow from the opening and it was completely sidelined once the sex started.

Now in theory revisiting the characters could correct that mistake and give us an interesting story, but how long would that take? Trying to cram a recurring side-story into a holiday bonus slot seems like a recipe for an under-baked disappointment. But trying to flesh the concept out properly would effectively be asking you to make two games at once; why fight a two-front war?

Personally, I'd prefer if you focused on the Friends In Need. But if you need a break, I'd say do something quick and one-shot.

Hey Dev, hope all is well :)

Just as everyone else has been saying, I don't really don't like the idea of a 'holiday special' either. I'm sure your other game - the student loan - might have a special place in your heart but to me personally, Friends In Need is a top tier game for which we'd simply like to have as much content as possible for it.

I would rather wait longer if it meant even just a few more renders for FiN, but of course the final decision is yours to make. I do hope when it does eventually reach Christmas time in game, we get some fancy outfits for the characters neatly tied in to the main plot of the game.

Agreed, those "holiday special" events are a waste of time, and the dev's that do likely lose subscribers by doing it. Please don't ;)

I agree I don't see the point of wasting time on a holiday specials unless the game starts the week of Christmas but is not a Christmas game or a horror game that take place around Halloween but its not the main theme of the game so then a Halloween event/party in the game would move the plot forward.

The problem with those "holyday specials" is that they rarely follow the plot, and they are usually silly. If a developer is able to make it fit well, I have no problem. But that almost never happens. Usually they are a waste of time.
Generally people want to continue with the story, and usually the "holyday specials" do not come from anywhere.

True, often some Christmas Cosplay Dress exchange with totally unreleated events & without sex scenes sometimes.

I always believed the holiday specials are for developers too, so they can do something different, have a breath of fresh air... you know what I mean :)

Hey hey, I worked into the night so I could of the current version for $15+ subscribers.

Britt Nyaaah.png

This features 95% of Brittani's submission path. There's just a handful of images missing from when it veers off onto the friendship/neutrality path. Still need to render those, the affection path, and the epilogue, and then set some variables. Render count is over 730 for the new update, and this one features more of my little 2/3 frame animations than any of the other scenes.

Still on track for a Saturday release for $5+ patrons, but I'll be working late to queue up renders.

Also, also - I saw everyone's thoughts on the whole Student Loan: Christmas Special idea, and I'll be real: if I have time, I'll probably do it anyway. Because A) my patrons have been enthusiastic about it and B) the people who talked about using it as a way of avoiding burnout are pretty much on the money. I really enjoy working on FiN, but it's kind of a big, complicated game, with lots of stuff to keep track of. If I can take a couple of days and work on something comparatively easier, it does a lot to recharge my batteries.

It's sort of the difference between building a house, and a birdhouse. The house is more useful and ultimately rewarding, but the birdhouse provides the instant gratification of an easy, mindless one-day project. And I'm careful not to devote too much time to any of these things. The original Student Loan was written in a day or two, and took something like a week to render. The FiN Halloween Special was done in two days, aside from the extra photos that were edited in later, which added a couple hours.

Again though, it's far from a foregone conclusion that I'll even have time. In addition to my day job, I'm writing a fantasy novel with some porn-y elements, drawing a comic, and doing FiN. And it's the holidays. So, I'm very tired.

If the Student Loan Christmas is something that you need to do, I'm sure there will be very few objections. Maybe some angry moth noises. I know what it is like to have a story that you need to get out of your head before you can concentrate on anything else. It isn't wise to ignore this impulse. Cross-pollinating stories can be very productive, especially when one is exceptionally long and you just want to have that feeling of completing something. It can keep you going.
