If y'all are trying to use the patch on the Patreon version (Friends Indeed) it won't work. You have to use it on the SunStar version (Friends in Need)

If by broken you mean "Awesome," like when my kids tell me that the Persona Yoshitsune in Persona 5 is completely broken. Seriously, though, chances are you are trying to patch the wrong version of the game. The Patreon version must comply with their guidelines, so the patch does not work on it for lack of the content it is intended to patch in.
You say that, but the dev took out the age setting and the raceplay, so yes, the patch doesn't do what it used to. I imagine Mason's next on the chopping block.

Ok, I'm gonna take pity.
Download the Subscribestar version. Get the patch, and yes it's empty. It's supposed to be, the game just checks if it's there and if it is, opens up the dark stuff. You could even just create an empty file and call it patch.py or whatever.

Download URM mod -> word/number replacement -> voila: Ageplay & raceplay are back. As fucked up as dark content is, and how much trouble it can get you in, ageplay & raceplay are like.. 10x more troublesome, so it makes sense. Lot of people are openly-secretly into dark content, women too. The other two, way more taboo and underground, niche as well, also more of a guy thing it seems. So, it comes off as more creepy and offensive. I don't know, maybe others see it differently?
On the other hand, the Mason stuff has a story element to it that the others really don't. On top of that, it can be a political hotbutton really for large swaths of people by forcing either perspective, so I really doubt it'll get touched. Neon did a really good job at straddling the line without going too strong either way, especially given his own personal opinions he's hinted at, so I don't really see too many people getting offended by it unless they're just trying to; it's very respectful.
But... if it does get censored/adjusted.. the core of the game is still intact, so... eh...
Some sacrifices are just necessary. Save pitchforks for dark route being removed altogether, that's a core game aspect. Being actually removed btw, not dopes bemoaning to themselves about it in the comments lolWhat he said. Also, restart your game from beginning just to be safe, especially if you had the patreon version. The variables are all setup at the start of the game, and the patreon version is scrubbed of the dark variables, so you're going to get errors up the wazoo if you try to frankenstein your save files between the two.
"First they came for the gooners" and whatnot. By then it'll be too late.
And I say this as someone who hasn't even completed the rapist route. I'd be perfectly fine with the game being vanilla only, especially if it would mean faster development. But removing content is ALWAYS a bad sign.

If the menu screen has a grey heart in the upper right hand corner, it is patched correctly.
You still have to make dark dark choices in the first few lewd scenes to go that route later in the game.
