No, the original debt was only 20k, fuckface wanted her to lie and try and get 100k from MC but the debt was only 20k and that's all she asked for. Then the debt was actually increased to 100k during the time skip. She has made some truly idiotic decisions but I don't think she has ever lied to MC.I am going it again but I caught another lie of Nicki. She say her boyfriend lost 100k in that 3 months but it was 100k to begin with, not 20k. If you ask for sex then be nice to her until you have option to call boyfriend, boyfriend mentions 100k and calling her dumb, idiot etc. After the call, she says he is not always like this. God fucking dammit, this woman. She is just using MC and I am convinced she gonna pull real something to fuck MC over.
Nicki says they are in debt of 20k but if you make a call to Brent while finger fucking Nicki, Brent mentions real number as 100k.Wait, what? They were 20K in the hole, and the dipshit Brent used the MC's bailout as collateral to double down with more loans, ballooning their debt and leaving Nicki on the hook for 100K.
That all makes sense to me, and I don't remember Nicki saying anything else to contradict that basic chain of events.
She answers she could only ask for 20k, then Brent try to negotiate and says go for 50k, if you kiss him he will give it, dumb, idiot etc.Fuck yeah! Grandpa MC comes through! Think he'll give me the whole 100k

Exact words of Brent,
She answers she could only ask for 20k, then Brent try to negotiate and says go for 50k, if you kiss him he will give it, dumb, idiot etc.
After phone call, she defends him saying "he is not always like that"
I may have some screenshots but I don't wanna dig. If you want to see, go for kind sex exchange for money and when you have the option taunt her with boyfriend, choose that one. You'll see.
I think in context, the difference between 20K and 100K isn't that Nicki lied about their debt. When she's talking to Brent her line is...

So the debt was 20K. But remember that Brent is a huge douche-canoe, and is under the impression that the MC owes him big for the crypto windfall. So Brent probably wanted Nicki to ask for 100K, but she didn't feel comfortable towing that line with the MC.
Rather than catching Nicki in a lie, I think you found her disagreeing with Brent in favor of the MC.
Good thing too, considering how fucked she'd been if Brent had 100K to use as collateral only to ultimately leave her holding the bag...
When she came to you for the money, offer sex exchange to money(prostitution) then be nice to her, compliment etc. then touch her then choose to taunt her about boyfriend then you will see. It is easy to miss because you need to choose "bad" option after chosed 3-4 "good" option.Wait, how do you end up making a call to Brent? I thought I'd seen every version of that scene, but never found that.
Man, the amount of variation in this game is insane.
Uh, wait, I'm confused. If Brent actually wanted $100k, but Nicky only asked for $20k, doesn't that mean she's in MC's corner? Like, if she didn't have our best interests in mind and if she didn't feel guilty and was just using Guy, she would've 100% asked for the whole $100k. Asking for far less means she felt compelled to do what Brent told her (she's an easy target for manipulation clearly; c'mon, us dark players know it to be true, search within your feelings), but didn't actually feel right doing what she was doing.View attachment 2588744
It says here "whole", so there is an exact number that Nicki awares of. She talks like she never knew about 100k when she came second time but she knew. Of course that 20k has meaning behind, maybe down payment or first installment or something like that but as a whole it is 100k and she knows, she totally lied about it.
We do not know what 100k or 20k stands for; that is sure, maybe 100k was their total debt and 20k was to loanshark maybe something else but that statement "whole $100k" there and it is something she knew.

Is MC confused because of she disagreed with her bf or 100k stuff? Is she apologetic because she disagreed with her bf or she got caught lying? Definitely not a good thing and she clearly was lying.

Btw, I totally agree with MC here. What was that attractive about Brent that she took all abuse, manipulation etc. She took everything he threw at her. Was it really because they were splitting rent, bills and expenses? She literally came to MC to whoring herself for Brent. She defended Brent every chance she got. She defended him after this conversation saying "he is not always like this." After he fucked her over, she took blame and said "I knew him and I did it anyway" btw, this is after he forged her signature and used her ID to get loan in her name. Then after MC showing her threatening texts, she said "he is not like that." What is so special about that douchebag I wonder.
Well I don't think Neon made a mistake because story fits with images and general storyline. Motives behind it, is not exactly important to what I say though. Maybe she thought MC would not give 100k so she went with bare minimum. What I said she knew 100k but lied about it then she came back 3 months later, she said she never knew about 100k and Brent took the money from their joint account. She is lying about it, motives up to her.Uh, wait, I'm confused. If Brent actually wanted $100k, but Nicky only asked for $20k, doesn't that mean she's in MC's corner? Er, and of course, this is only the case if it's not even a simple mistake on Neon's part, which it might be![]()
That is all based off you assuming that by 'whole' Brent means the 'whole debt'. I still stand by my reading that 'whole' refers to the 'whole amount he asked for', which doesn't have to be just the total debt. Again, Brent is a greedy asshole who thinks he is owed some of the MC's wealth. Also, he tries to bargain with Nicki on the phone to get her to ask for at least 50K when she refuses, that's not something you do if you're already actually on the hook for 100K. If they already owed 100K together, that is when you'd expect the truth to come out as Brent pleads with Nicki about how fucked they are and really need that entire 100K. But nope, he instead tries to haggle like he's talking to a used car salesman. So my interpretation fits much better with the entirety of Nicki's phone conversation (Nicki's pushback, the affirmed 20K debt, Brent's haggling); it's also more probable since it doesn't rely on the assumption that there is a grand conspiracy at play.View attachment 2588744

You are right here, I actually exaggerate there but she knew MC love her and in a few path she said she love MC, with that thought in mind calling flirting, kissing etc. whoring is not going overboard I believe. Depends on the bar, don't you think? She didn't come to the MC to explicitly whore herself out. Brent wanted her to lay on the charm, flirt, maybe kiss the MC, and hoped the MC was enough of a pushover to fork over the 100K he thought he was owed. Brent is an idiot, and has nothing but contempt for the MC, so I'm sure this plan made prefect sense in his head. Even assuming Nicki was on board with doing anything more than being friendly and just asking for help, that would put her on par with... what? A lady working at a Japanese hostess bar? Not exactly Grade A escort material there.
Oh no, I am perfectly aware how stupid people can be when it comes to relationships with hands-on experience. Also I think characters are too close to real life. All I am trying to do is making sense even if it's a little. As for why Nicki stuck with a dead-end relationship? Fuck if I know, but that situation is distressingly common place. People are not rational actors, and people's actions will constantly surprise you if you work off the assumption that people make rational decisions. They don't. We're creatures of emotion, even when we're trying to be rational. Going by her story in Ch3, it's a very believable take on someone being trapped in their relationship. She couldn't afford their apartment alone; so between circumstances, the sunk cost fallacy, and not wanting to admit that your relationship is a mistake? Yeah, that shit can plaster over a lot of problematic holes; right up until the point it can't. Everyone's breaking point is different, Nicki just found hers after she woke up to find out she was now 100K in debt to extralegal loan sharks. She also accepts culpability for not leaving Brent sooner, hence why she was adamant on solving the debt problem herself; she was too ashamed that Brent had played her yet again, and she wasn't going to ask for another handout after letting the first one slip through her grasp.

So I think that both amounts being 100K is a coincidence. That being said, I think NeonGhosts might want to consider that in his Ch1 Rewrite plans. If my take is the more accurate one, then simply changing the numbers so that they're no longer identical (e.g. Brent asking for 150K, or Nicki owing 80K, etc.) would make it much harder to interpret the dialogue in the way you have. There is a chance you're right, but I'm pretty skeptical.

Obviously she was aware that Brent asked her to try for 100k, when the fuck did she lie about that though? If it's such simple logic, explain it then. I'll bet that you can't though. So I think both numbers being 100k is being coincidence is too unlikely and like you said if Neon won't change those numbers I think my interpretation is the likely option. That means Nicki was aware of the 100k, she said Brent did it without her knowledge with simple logic from both statements Nicki was lying.
Afaik, only Chapter 1 is getting a remake/remaster.Oh fuck its not going to be a remake is it.
There is no dispute, except from people who just want to hate her and twist anything they can find to support that hate. There is literally no other reason to think that she was lying, we aren't just taking her word for it, we can be party to their phone call for Christ's sake! There is obviously some amount of discrepancy between chapter one and the cohesive narrative of the ensuing chapters. Hence the rework upcoming. Once we have to replay from chapter one we will all have a refresher and be better able to pin down the content of the conversation between Nikki and Brent that instigated the entire game. We were not privy to it, so we can only infer whose idea it was, for example, or what the ultimate purpose of the ask was. We only have Nikki's word on the subject and seem invested in never hearing Brent's side of the story just because we dislike him. However, the dispute between them as to the amount Nikki was to request from Guy is of note and I believe that it will stay in order to muddy the waters when it comes to Nikki. After all, if we believe her to be fully innocent or fully guilty both of those make her a far less interesting character.
