I'm with you on this one, don't like to hurt them as well, especially Mason
But its optional, if I don't want to be a jerk I can go to that path no problem, Neonghosts never made me feel like I'm obligated to go and dominate them

I honestly never understood the anti NTR thing at all. Then again I guess might be cause I never truly get immersed and self inset my self as the MC. So I usally find it easy to disconnect myself from the game or MC when there is something I wouldn't do or be into yet I want to see or do it in the game for the sake for seeing all the content.

I don't self insert but find that often with ntr the wrightig takes a nose dive and the tone changes to be spiteful and mean toward the player and not the character. It's a strange pattern that I've noticed in vns and other media, often with a "moral" of you made this happen through your inaction. With that being the case, especially in a vn where the author makes the decisions with the illusion of player choice, I can understand why people would not like ntr situations. In real life if a girl cheats on you you can tell her off or beat up the guy, you never get that choice or opportunity in most vns, which further drives home that the author is trying to create a weak powerless character which is something most people don't want to read about because they can't understand or emphasize with it. I see ntr as an extension of misery porn, because that's what it is.

You seem to have good sense and I agree with the stuff you are saying. I have played a handful of VNs and only very rarely do I feel like the MC is making reasonable decisions (even in ones where I get to choose from a decision tree, it still feels off). The only game I've played recently that I thought was smartly written is Projekt: Passion. I know it's subjective but what games would you consider are good in your opinion? Low-key looking for game recs

To my understanding, they complain because the devs have to spend time making contents they hate instead of focusing on what they like. NTR crowds are pretty powerful, and there have been cases of games with mostly non-NTR/sharing contents get slowly flipped around.

if that's the case then 1) idk about their actual age, but they (assuming by they you and I mean players) have mental fortitude of a 16 year old and shouldn't be on this site at all tbh 2) if they want a game which suits them 100% they can commission it no problemo
actually there are so many things wrong with "you make the kind of content I don't like" argument it's baffling anyone can think of it as a legit reasoning
also the fact we are debating mere possibility of adding a bit of optional sharing and there are guys already throwing tantrums over it speaks volumes about who is more "powerful" - as in, vocal out here

You can't prevent folks from demanding what contents included in the game, so as a dev, you either stay principled and consistent from start to end or give in and risk the inevitable shitshow.

NeonGhosts seems to lean on the first option (Nicki patch is the proof), so we shouldn't be worried about him sinking the ship.
