Oh ok, I guess I misunderstood you. If you just meant 'dark route' as in manipulation, blackmail, maybe some fucked up sex every once in a while, then yeah, I definitely agree it can go on for a very long time. And based on my understanding, a route like that isn't ending anytime soon. What you're describing sounds most like the corruption route to me, but I'm not entirely sure what it looks like in the code; corruption route? dark corruption route? less extreme dark route? not sure. So, I was really only talking about the people defending a route that involves choosing the most BRUTAL option every single time and expecting that to go on indefinitely. If you're not one of those, then my bad

The brutal stuff was fun for a bit, and I guess I could imagine myself having fun with it for longer than is planned, but I think Neon's reasoning against it has a point. Plus, most importantly, it sounds like he just would be miserable writing that for too long, which is very understandable. Not directed at you necessarily, but if players really want to see a game continue on to completion, they have to realize that a dev only (or mostly) creating content that he actually wants to create is an integral part of that pact.


I only meant the idea that Nicki becoming just as dark and fucked up as psychotic Guy doesn't make any sense. Sure, it's possible I guess that she is into darker stuff that she never realized she was into until Guy 'showed her the truth' or w/e. But that can quickly become really corny and totally not believable imo. That kind of thing comes down to personality, is my understanding. Dark triads get sexual pleasure from the abuse of others, not normal people usually (talking about in RL; digital fantasy is a whole different ballgame). Maybe extreme cases of abuse and trauma can affect that. Dark Guy has certainly doled a lot of that out, but I think huge personality shifts might require something closer to torture, long-term kidnappings, trauma like that.. just my opinion.

Yeah, Dark Guy is Patrick Bateman territory. I can't see Nicki being his partner in crime in that route, she's clearly a sub in all her routes. From the girls available right now the only one that shows some interest in the dark stuff is Brittani, if you bring sub Nicki to the photo session.
That can be interesting to explore, some corruption route in which one of the girls embrace it and helps Guy to keep the other bitches in line

Yeah, at most I could see Nicki tolerating dark Guy's sadism onto others. But even then... she seems like the type that is very open to enduring her own suffering, but is obviously opposed to the suffering of others like any normal human being. She seems contradictorily tough and weak all at once. I don't understand her character enough yet to decide whether she'd tolerate the abuse of others, too, or if she'd vehemently fight it. I could see both.

Interesting you say that about Brittani. I feel the opposite, actually. She feels like someone that's been the victim of abuse since a young age. Well, that's what I imagine in my head, anyways. That explains some of her odd or forward behavior to me. I think her step-father was inappropriate with her...

But yeah, I'm looking forward to that kind of sidekick. Brit's mom is definitely going to be a crossroads demon in that regard And Brit's boyfriend's.. helper or w/e, she's going to be another one.

I don't want to get into a discussion about this again, but since you play the "I'm oh so innocent, you guys are mean" -card, let me explain why people think your comment is bigoted.
People like you think that just adding a trans-character into any form of media is politics, that's not the case. As long as the character is well-written and fits into the story, it's nothing but reflecting reality.
Because as much as some people want to simply ignore the existence of transpeople or non-binary people, they exist and so having one in your story isn't political in itself, it's just showing the world as it is.
It would honestly be more political if you had a certain amount of characters and all were just heterosexual cis-gender people, because that would be unlikely in today's world in a relatively large city.

Now, if Neonghost had 2 transgender characters and 3 non-binary characters, and one asexual and two pansexual characters, then you might have a point, because that would really mean shoving it into people's faces. But there is just one character and Mason fits very well into the cast, they are almost all people in need that the MC wants to help for reasons, depending on the direction of your playthrough, that goes for Mason as well.
Nothing he experiences or has experienced is unrealistic, this is all stuff that happens to TG people, if you show something that exists, without overdoing it or making it worse than it is, how is this political?

And I mean, you can even go and address Mason as a Girl, he will not like it, but you can do it, so you can even play as someone who doesn't accept that gender can be defined as more than just pure biology.
If Neonghost were all political and pushing an agenda, he wouldn't offer that option.
