Not saying Neon should do this or anything. but I think when the rework of Chapter 1 happens could have best of both worlds if it was something Neon even wanted to happen. If you give her money for sex or do dark path stuff to her she does go through with porno. but if you just give her money no sex then she doesn't. Just my idea not saying it's a good one or anything probably a crappy idea tbh as im no writer.

I actually had some ideas in this direction, but it's more like: get money, she doesn't ever go to the porn shoot, but still goes with Vaughn for a few months of strange artistic nude photos. Doesn't get money: does go to the porn shoot. So, she'll always have a certain amount of debt that needs removed, but the difference is how much/how desperate she is. I dunno, I'm still kicking that around. I want to simplify a few aspects of her whole gone-and-back narrative, part of which may mean having her absent for more like six months, rather than three.

Early on, there was a lot of delicate balancing in terms of not pissing people off, before the game got rolling, and I'd built a little trust. Now that the trust is (mostly..) there, I don't think it'd hurt to retcon some things.

Honestly, I wish we would've had the choice on some of the backgrounds/events going further. Like, I would've preferred Nicki being taken all the way at the porno shoot. Beyond being hawt on the dark route (I know a lot of u dont play that and think I'm gross), I also think it's more intense drama (not necessarily better, I know everyone has their opinions), and I kind of think it even makes for a more tender romance. There's more pain & trauma to try and heal. And on top of that, as twisted as it is, there are a number of men out there who would want to distance themselves romantically from a girl if that happened to her (I'm talking in RL; ppl can feel how they want in the digital world). So, in a very fucked up way, it can end up becoming a test of "do you actually love me and will stand by me no matter what, or do you see me as merely a fantasy extension of yourself that you don't want spoiled". I think that would make for a very bittersweet romance route for her.

I hope I'm coming across ok here, it's very dark subject matter and I'm not sure if I communicated my thoughts well..

That was originally very much the plan! I don't know how many people remember, but originally me and The Regional Manager dev were working on a little overlap between our games, and Nicki's photo event was going to take place over in his game, where players would decide how far it went. Then, when Nicki showed back up in FiN, she'd basically approach it like: "I don't want to talk about it." So, whatever you wanted to be true, would be. But, things didn't work out, and I had to reshuffle my plans. I think it was ultimately for the best, though.

I still have that whole photoshoot 'quest' coded into a little Ren'py game, actually.. I need to clean up some things and post it.

And speaking of Nicki's photoshoots.. Here's something from the 'Wanton Weekends' feature on my blog, which I usually use to add some story/sexy art content in between updates.

When I play, I immerse myself into a game. So, it's like real life. I know it's not, but it doesn't matter. I've experienced a shit-ton of bad shit in my rl and I don't want it in a game either.

Nah, it'd stay basically as is -- she either goes there and narrowly avoids it, or just never goes at all.

That'd also necessitate her showing up at the end of Chapter Two in a much less disheveled state, but.. I dunno! Could be fun. It'd make that initial choice to help her or not extra impactful, but I'd need to look at some of the knock-on effects.

I can't help but wonder what sort of writing you'd throw up to handwave the school girl porn shoot thing showing up at Guy's door. Like... On her way to you she encountered some clothes disolving slimes right beside a strip club, and all she could do was trade the last of her cash for the strippers stage wear, or something.

No phone and being embarrassed about not seeing how he really is/ not wanting to impose on mc yet again would explain why it took her so long to get in contact again.

Based on some of the pics posted here this could lead to her getting helped by Mason before/if she runs into the photographer.

I actually like Nikki's character the way she is now, but there are definitely some holes that need filling since her behaviour can be confusing at times. I feel a lot of the issues could be corrected with some heavier implications of her submissive nature in relationships. It would help people understand why she was so easily manipulated. I think she'd make more sense as a cuckquean type character since she is clearly submissive in the sack while being outspoken and outgoing in her day to day life. This would work well with her being the mc's personal assistant and could introduce some interesting variety of relationship options as well as some interesting interactions with other love interests.

Nikki's character is that she fell for the wrong guy and did whatever she had to do to survive. Hence why she puts up with OP's treatment of her for so long before she finally gets fed up.

I think she'd make more sense as a cuckquean type character since she is clearly submissive in the sack while being outspoken and outgoing in her day to day life.

I forget even tho I replayed this not to long ago. But is she submissive with the MC on the love path as well I only recall submissive scenes with the middle path when I played this for the first time like 4 or so months ago.

That sounds like a neat idea tbh. I'm guessing dark-pathers don't mind so much about LI purity lol I still like the idea of romancing a more broken Nicki, but this tree of events would make perfect sense!

i don't think Nikki's early story needs changing. i like it the way it is. the rollercoaster of Nikki's story on chapter 2 was why I view your game highly.

I don't agree, a summa of Nicki's story Is knew (a fiancee who liked sharing her, sex for money, a semi-slave hidden period).I am SO curios how the Dev'fantasy should take her story in the past!

I agree that I don't think her story needs changing. But I do feel like it would be nice to have two new options to her first scene. One with no sex at all (yeah, i'm super weird) and one where you just don't give her money, sex or not.
Either of those two changes may well lead rather organically to changes in her story. Seems like the writing process is full of unexpected zigs and zags for the author here. But at the same time, there was something said about how the original scene itself was a comprimise to get to the point where the game would have a chance to be noticed. If it needs a re cut to be truer to the original vision, I for one have no idea what it's going to be in the end.

But so far, NeonGhosts isn't george lucas, so I have faith.
