I'm going to be super curious if Nikki and Ash are still going to be almost a tie for number one wife and baby mama

Although I love them both, Ash has always been number one because it was always easier to get a serious relationship out of Ash

Because in the older version of the game, it always felt like Nikki never had feelings for me until I had money

And only after I helped Nikki magically have feelings for me out of nowhere

But I heard from other people's comments that the remake of episode 1 is different

I didn’t want to fully lose that thing in the original where Guy is wary of Nicki’s motives, though. So, that’s retained in a different way, where Guy’s given a warning about the perils of being wealthy and having old friends suddenly show up with their hands out.

It's easy to look at the original situation and think Nicki is anything but a friend in how she approaches Guy for money. It does sort of set her up for the less than positive reception options. But I think there is also a way of reading it that she is desperate, deep down in the rabbit hole with her scummy boyfriend's antics, making her desperate for a solution. So she hits up Guy as a last resort. Then the player has the decision to make how to respond to it. Be magnanimous, be angry and rage, or something in between. IMO the scene worked.

My problem was her disappearance and reappearance afterwards. That didn't work very well if the player was magnanimous. Her reappearance really is hard to swallow if you were nice to her originally and treated her well. But again the scene was well written, you could respond harshly (the bathroom action), but still come back from the brink, or go down the dark path. It worked both ways, but it did seem to paint Nicki in a pretty dark way. Coming back to Guy, again, after he helps her, maybe had some magic moment, and then ghosts him. Harsh. But it still worked because Nicky had a giant anchor around her neck in the form of her boyfriend.

I'm hoping the re-write won't be sunshine and daises. The original version starts Nicki off in a pretty dark light, but opens up some great character arc options for redemption or retribution. Understandably that might be a nightmare down the road with drastically different paths and coding/writing requirements. But I've always thought Guy's relationship with Nicki is set up to be the core of the game, so having some player agency in how that pans out is really appreciated.

Love the game, looking forward to how things shape up and where the story goes.

I thought it worked pretty well -- Nicki was clearly too ashamed to turn to Guy for help again after he's already helped her once, so she tried to resolve this situation on her own, with poor result. She only overcomes her reluctance to reach out again because she's at breaking point after her near-rape experience, and Guy is the only person she feels she can turn to.

I don't think there's anything about it that didn't work with treating her well. If anything, it's her turning to Guy where you've treated her badly, that doesn't make much sense.

As to me it would also mean you or the other person would probably try harder to make things work if it turns into a romantic relationship , as neither one would want it to turn ugly and ruin a friendship if it can be helped. I agree with this. I see Nicki as guys anchor. They were friends before for a long time, so she's the only one who can tell him if he starts to get out of control, because she's the only one who'd see the difference. She's his assistant - handles all of his email, phone calls, does research on places where he might be putting his money and just as a gf - she enjoys fucking, video games and anime and is super protective (and only occasionally jealous). I'm all in on the Nicki solo path.
