it's done like that for a reason dude, you'd understand if you paid attention. He was depressed as shit, pretty much having a midlife crisis. Dunno how old you are so you might not get it, but it happens to people. He eventually gets in shape etc. as explained later in the game. Again, you need to pay attention to the details.
I kinda disagree. Nicki still leaves with the cash going back to Brent and just gets sucked back into his bullshit like the current chapter says. I really don't think there's much, if anything, that would have to change.

There used to be a store near my house, it moved. They published several notices on Facebook and had a pinned one on Twitter, they also had a sign on their front door for four months announcing the move but the day after they moved their FB page was flooded with complaints about them moving without notice. Neon has been talking, off and on, for about a year about re-working Chapter 1 and why he wanted to do that and why Guy was going to be a bit of a wreck in the new first chapter. This feels similar to the store thing.

I think the remake is fair, it looks updated and its good. I only hope that the developer can get through the first few chapters to where the versions are standardized and move onto new content.
I am always wary of remakes because it has happened that developers just want to pull more cash out of supports for "old" content. That said, I can appreciate wanting to standardize for sake of releasing on Steam and I only wish the developer well, this is a great game and they can be proud of it.
To reiterate, I really do hope that the developer does get the "remakes" done sooner rather than later so they can focus on new content, otherwise you will loose a lot of credibility from your supporters and what many here are saying will then be true, that this is just another way to drag out production to pull more cash...

Do we know if the remake will require a full redo of all playthroughs due to variables or other backend changes? Or is it just backstory/visuals that are being changed?
The previous version of the game has mentioned this is what Guy was like until he got the money and got in shape. Since the new version starts a bit earlier, it now actually shows that original version of the Guy, rather than just tell. And the shaping up now happens in the game itself, before the subsequent chapter which is after a time skip.

I haven't played it yet, i'll do it later, but have the content about nicki going to MC asking for money been cut? That's a shame. It was a really good arc IMHO. A rough start for the 2 but very realistic, dramatic and squallid. A great bottom of the barrel from where to lift up.

.The timeline is now a bit different, and Nicki doesn't visit Guy for money specifically (she isn't even aware he's got it) I agree that it's a bit of a shame, since i liked how the original was arranged. But then quite a few people didn't like it, and the dev himself wanted to make Guy/Nicki relationship as more defined friendship thing. So it is what it is.

Only chapter 1 is remade, other chapters will remain more or less the same and will be released soon (this month I think), also chapter 11 is coming in June.
There really should be a notice in the OP for people who don't follow the game regularly to avoid unnecessary complaining.

dunno yet, the new CH1 remake released is a standalone version which doesn't include the rest of the game.

I mean, I would bet they're going to continue playing it once the new update drops but keep silent about it. They just want people to see they're upset while they sit there refreshing the page waiting for all the likes to come in because they don't get validation from any other aspect of their life.
Remakes aren't always a bad thing. I've made this rant before, but shit changes. The direction of the story could change depending on how it develops. It's still an unfinished product until it reached 1.0 and even then there could be changes/improvements.
It's the people feeding off of handouts that complain the most, I swear...
