My bad, I explained really bad. My curiosity is about the developer, that in first time wrote her character as a (stupid ?) girl ready to have sex for money.
And why now he changes her character completely.

Ehh, Nicki isn't stupid, and the whole idea of using MC's infatuation with her as means to get money they desperately need comes from her boyfriend, Brent.

The dev has decided to rewrite the prologue pretty much because there's been quite a few people, who couldn't see past the "she has sex for money!" thing and didn't see Nicki for what she was really intended to be in the first place, Guy's close friend. She is not changed, much less completely. You now simply get a more complete picture of her, that's also presented in simpler manner, so the nuance doesn't confuse some readers anymore.

I think its not even really that, i suspect the whole setup hit close for many people lol

Everyone probably crushed at some point on a girl he was friends with and she had a boyfriend and it didnt worked out, some guys get bitter over that and its like they can take revenge here lol

When I first tried this game (when it first came out), I had a bad impression of it due to the Nicki situation. You can see my old posts in this thread about it, but in short, the whole situation was Nicki taking advantage of the MC and I saw her as a gold-digger basically. It left a bad taste, and I just couldn't continue after that.

But saw that the new remake was out, heard it was getting a remake a while back and was interested to see how it comes out and what changes.

And have to say, you blew it out of the park. The new remake is fantastic. It just feels good all-around and has much more emotion to it as well. Usually when a dev changes the way a character is, trying to make them better, it's hard to accept it cause the damage was already done and we'll always see that character how they used to be, regardless of how they were reworked. But this, this was nice. You did something great here and changed my mind on how I saw Nicki.

Just the way everything was handled flowed so much better, and even the ending with him realizing what to do with his money was awesome. I am very interested to see how the next chapters are going to turn out with a little reworking here and there to match up to this new beginning.

This was just a really nice read. Thank you and best wishes going forward.

Yes, I agree with you. I played the game in Portuguese (my language), downloaded from another site that translated it. Then, I came here and read that there was a dark path. I downloaded it and while playing I realized that the game was the same. I opened the other one (which I downloaded in Portuguese) and all I had to do was make stupid answers and it would take me to the dark path.

Well, by being kind I got the same results and a loving path, I prefer that!

Beautiful remake,NeonGhosts !!
Whatever they say,it was really necessary,
because now you really get to know the foreground between them,
the nerdy conversations,her funny cuteness,
you really see how their bond has developed and you really want to help her in whatever situation she finds herself in.

You really improved her dark path situation also completely,
in the original is the MC more a predator who is hurt and rejected to the core,
and sees his chance to unleash his demons on his victim when she comes crying on his doorstep.

In the remake he has still feelings and sympathy for her,
and he still hits his head against the wall thousand of times every night because he has never had the courage and self-confidence to ask her out,
and had done the biggest stupidity of his life to pair her with " that creature " when she asked his opinion,
taking advantage of her situation through the self-confidence,wealth and power he now has,alright,
but doing something violent towards her,never !!

p.s:also wonderful to see the intros of the future characters already !!

I have mixed feelings for this update... Where's my justification for going psycho on Nickys ass? Maybe a black and white flashback to Miss C.Lawyer telling MC that money changes people when Nickydoodle asks for money? Shit got tamer. I knew Guy was a moron naive but not a white knight/simp; it doesn't feel right.

I was quite harsh on chapter 1 in my review because it nearly made me quit the game. That's why a 7.5 was in order. This brings the quality up to speed and improves on the grounding between Guy and Nicki, even though she still has her questionable morals. It's between an 8 and an 8.5 for me, but because the dark path isn't something I thoroughly enjoy myself I'd go for an 8.5. Nice work, Neon.

I think that even good Guy has a speck of darkness inside him he is pushing down so that he can make a positive impact on people's lives. At the same time, even bad Guy has innate goodness that he is turning his back on in his pursuit of personal gratification. A few folks have said that the new chapter one gives less of an impetus for Guy to mistreat Nikki, but I think that it kind of the point. Guy decides to be an asshole because it is an option, not because he has a justification for doing so. He feels agrieved by the world, not by anyone in particular, and takes it out on the girls in this game because he can. In my opinion, neither version of Nikki deserved mistreatment, but as the man once said "Deserve ain't got nothing to do with it." This is a game about power, how to use and misuse it. Power concedes nothing without a demand, and those in power tend to do as they please first and find a rationale later... if they even bother.

I'm not sure how to respond since it seems like you answered it yourself lol. Guy chooses to be an asshole because he gets off on it. So why is it a problem that he has no other reason for doing so? Frankly, the further you go down the dark path the more it becomes obvious that you are roleplaying a sociopath.

I kind of worded that wrong and it can give that impression, yeah. Let me try to make some sense out of it: while the rationale of indulging oneself is always there for people who do it, no matter if conscious or not, arriving to that point is something of a process. You don't just wake up one day and out of the blue decide "i'm gonna be raping people from now on because this is what i enjoy" without any sort of build-up and prior experience with how abusing the power you have is actually pretty enjoyable.

Especially in the fictional works when this build-up is missing the player can be left with impression that their character "isn't there (yet) mentally" and the options to act like total asshole seem premature/unjustified.
