He's re-written the first chapter to show Nikki and Guy's relationship better as people perceived her as using Guy in the initial release. Now she comes round to actually spend time with him, not for money

Then he's basically added a chapter 1.5, that adds more context inbetween the night with Nikki and meeting Ashe. Now he's back to working on the next chatter

I wonder if it's actually due to complaint or if dev wanted to solidify what they intended with the scene a bit better.
I don't think I personally ever saw it as her using Guy, more as in "hey, we were really good friends before and I have no one to turn to and I really fucked up" type of deal. I've always viewed the notion to 'use someone' as having malicious intent behind their actions which.. yeah, I can't see that dork having any sort of malicious intent towards Guy.

I know that there were a lot of complaints but yeah, it's hard to actually understand that viewpoint without misunderstanding the characters and the context I suppose.

As far as I understood it, Brent got them in deep financial shit, he knew (or thought) Guy would help them out, Nikki wanted to sweeten the deal.

The remake very much frames it as "I haven't seen you in so long, where have you been", the money comes up as a topic, but its not why shes there

I think we might be talking about two different parts of the whole ordeal here. I was talking about when Nikki comes back after having been a model, and is in deep shit.
I think you were talking about when Guy initially loaned them money. That being said, I don't see that initial interaction as her using him either, she was being used by Dipshit McGee as he was utilizing her blind love and devotion to get money out of Guy, meaning that she was basically just a tool rather than the mastermind and "user" of that whole scenario.

I digress though, it's a discussion that's been done to death.

Yeah in the original I never saw Nicki as using Guy especially when she comes back it felt like she was using him even less. But there was on conversation on the corruption / dark path that really made me think that. You get her to call Brent while you are fucking her or whatever. During their conversation Brent wanted Nicki to get alot more money than she was asking but it seemed like Nicki was only trying to get what she needed for her debt and nothing more. To me that says she isn't using him because if she was I would think she would try for more than settle for less.

yeah even if she asked for 250k or some high number like that I probably would of said yes without a second thought. However with a big number like that I wouldn't trust Brent to not take advantage of her. So I probably would want to pay the debt directly for ger or whatever it was and not put the money in her account. Not that I don't trust Nicki but I wouldn't put it pass Brent to do manipulate her.

i do like nicki but i understund why peaple would not , its not about the money , but peaple felt that nicki is being opportunistic or even Manipulative? , she leaves after you help her and only comes back when she needs more help wich made it feel like it even more , and myself felt like i was fixing brent's problem not nicki's so basically , she takes the money and ghosts , this is selfish behavior, regardless of intent ,she never reaches out unless in need, it does lean back toward opportunism and feels more like she only saw guy as an ATM.

I mean to a small extent yes but also she did not want to take advantage of guy at all , she only wanted a place to sleep for a day or 2 didn't want money , his help or his love she had to be talked into accepting all of that. Yes and no. It is still being stupid yes but lets say your friend was gonna do something dangerous if you didn't help her. Wouldn't it be better to give her money and be stupid instead of letting her put herself in danger if she is a friend. I feel like a real friend would still give her money then if they can afford to that is. Now it's a different story if you don't got much money to burn but if it's pocket change eh what's the big deal.

I think it really depends on the context as it can go both ways. With Nicki I don't see it as being stupid personally given his wealth , as long as the MC doesn't expect it to last and it being only a temporary fix. Now if she keep coming back for more every week and he was giving it to her for Brent to burn. Then yeah that be a different story

I can agree with this much but I would still see her as a good friend because of her explanation was a good one and believable one and felt like it was 100% the truth to me

In a perfect world, we could work with Lucien on the dark path and pimp all the ladies out. The poor ladies thought it was bad when they were blackmailed and manipulated into our personal plaything. I don't know why people are still debating whether or not original Nicki was using MC. Original Nicki said (and I'm paraphrasing here), "My boyfriend thought that if I took advantage of your crush we would have a better chance of getting money from you." .... If you read that and still defend Nicki saying there was no deception or using there, than you're delusional. I'm not saying she wasn't your friend, I'm not saying she's a bad person, I'm not saying she deserved it. I am saying she tried to use you. Period.

Yeah, it was kinda dumb that he never warned her about Brent - but I always took it as, he likes her but is afraid to show it and telling her to dump Brent because he wants to be with her could (in his head) risk their friendship. It's dumb, but nothing we can do about that. They money is different though. I've said this before but if I was suddenly worth somewhere in the area of 30 million and someone who had been a good friend needed $20k in an emergency (or what they said was an emergency) - they could have it for a text message. I wouldn't even ask what it was for until after the emergency was past. It would be different if they kept coming back for more but even the second or the third time, I'd just send the cash and hope everything was ok with them.
