Well, I apparently deleted the saves for this game and the patch in the last game without remembering that I needed it, so that's a pair of disappointments after getting excited.

Yup, rewriting a chapter hasmorenothing in common with writing a new chapterthan anything else. So you're still putting in work, but the project doesn't progress.

But in case you're interested in a legitimate answer:
Again, I am not a dev, I just like writing and in my experience when you're reworking something you've done years ago, it's less like editing work and more like reimagining the damn thing. For example, I didn't check but I would bet money that there is probably little text that is taken wholesale from the original chapter 1 and got reused as-is. I don't have any inside info on Neon's writing process but I would bet money that he had to rewrite most of the text for chapter 1, and probably a decent-ish part of chapter 2. He also obviously couldn't reuse the sliders so he had to make new ones. It's all new. It is, work-wise, a couple new chapters.
Now, I don't know about you, and I am no fucking Tolkien, but knowing what the initial situation is, how the different pieces of the story must be at the end of the chapter, and the high points you need to hit during said chapter sounds to me more akin to writing a new chapter of a story you've already formulated in your head than editing work.
That's what I mean. Reworking/Remaking/Rewriting a chapter is closer to creating a whole new chapter that retells a story we already know, than it is anything else. I wouldn't be saying this if Neon had kept the text as-is and just touched up on the images. But he changed scenes, added new ones, made sure they flowed into each other well while still making sure the important points and story beats were kept and new ones were added. Again, I got no inside info, but I don't think Neon worked any less hard on these remade chapters.
That is why, as far as I can see it, rewriting a chapter you published and illustrated (as it were) years ago is closer to writing a new chapter than it is editing/touching up on the old one.
Now, personally, this isn't what I want to see. I want to see the story continue and reach its conclusion without the game being abandoned partway. But I'm not the one writing this shit, so I'll just voice my worry while hoping that Neon's got this, and wait for the best. Hell, maybe this story will reach an ending that I hate to no end. I don't mind. I just want an actual ending to the story.

I appreciate that you appreciate the amount of work that would be required to do it right, and I say this as someone who went to school for animation. That being said, I would beseech you to NOT put AI slop in the game (animated or otherwise). No animation is a far superior experience to shit animation, let alone the supremely Uncanny Valley output of the various magic plagiarism black boxes. It would be a real shame to throw the work of other creatives under the bus just so that you can cut corners and your audience ends up with a worse product.
Super disappointed in the direction this game took. Rewriting, removing scenes, removing ageplay. You sold out man.

It has been like that for some time. Last thing Neon needs is being accused of promoting p3do content on patreon/subscribestar and eventually Steam.
If Guy treats him well i would say Mason is not "performing" at all and instead is very open about his sexuality.
Also there was a short story about Britanni's mom that Neon release recently. I hope he is able to implement it in the game together with the others shorts when he finish merging all chapters by the end of this july.
Though i don't think that ever actually comes up in the game anywhere aside from initial introduction..? So not really a big deal overall, you can just write it off as basic "they're all at least 18" porn game bullshit.

"The Tolkien's" meaning Christopher and J.R.R. specifically considering much of the work was undertaken by Christopher posthumously. With regard to your second point, The Hobbit through three British editions saw much revision by J.R.R. and that excludes any American editions. Much of that work was to bring the story more in line with the later Lord of the Rings so they were integrated more appropriately. As for Lord of the Rings the version I read had a significant history of revisionism undertaken by J.R.R. himself but that may have been purely spelling corrections. With the movies I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Christopher to my limited knowledge wasn't much a fan of the movies. I don't know what if any editing has been done to them after release, I suppose there's an extended edition. You and I might still manage the lifetimes calculation.And how much of that in PUBLISHED WORKS was done by the man himself? Just FYI, "Silmarillion" and "Tales from Middle Earth" and "Book of Lost Tales" were all published after his death , compiled by his son, from his unfinished, unpublished scribbles. All of the books published FULLY in his name SHOULD be untouched (apart from badly translated editions being retranslated) and NO revisions made. Period.
And NO films of any sort has his approval since he died 28 years prior the first cinematic film. And fyi I was born before JRRT died, before lifetimes become mentioned again in MY case
That said, I can deal with remakes of chapters as long as they do NOT change the over all story script. Because then it's not the game I paid for anymore, now is it? And, don't forget, as Patreon you tend to pay WAY more for them than if they simply sold their finished work. Since it's paying for them to be able to keep making the shit. TOTALLY different from Early Access or Kickstarter. Just think what wails there would be if you had to keep paying for EA or KS style games? LoL!

I personally make the Steam purchase(s). Very specifically I was pointing out that even in mediums we generally consider "complete" there are examples of people who constantly return to the completed work. In most cases that's resetting universes in comics, remaking the same movie or game, adding sequels or prequels. But there are also directors cuts, different editions and revised editions. There's even J.K. Rowling appending significant context to her story via posting on the Internet. Ultimately, I haven't disliked this remake personally, maybe what and who has been added will be superficial in the end but I can't say yet.
