Any chance Neon is planning on selling this on Steam? Its a good VN and since Steam was how I initially discovered the genre, I like to see the good examples from this genre on the marketplace.
Flashbacks, like Ashe telling Guy about that time she was tricked by a twink and how her dad beated him to a pulp. Thanks!
I'd like to find a way to compile all the shorts into the game, buuuuut not sure what form that'd really take yet. It wouldn't be too hard to make them into kind of a kinetic novel within the game, with the addition of some renders. Might be something to look into when I wrap up 'Season One' of the game.
He's removing the age selection. The taboo patch adds the dark path and incest tooBut he's removing it from the taboo patch is what I'm sayingThe option wasn't available to begin with unless you had the patch.
Cloud saves are nice if enabled. And I think it must be somewhat profitable. Multiple developers do it like DrPinkCake, Undergrad Steve, Inceton Games, Stone Fox (Chasing Sunsets), etc.I don't know where this discussion about Steam comes from but I wonder: Is it really profitable to publish a porn game on Steam? And are there really people who prefer to play it on Steam? Why?
Not this guy all my irl friends don't need to know my proclivities.I don't know where this discussion about Steam comes from but I wonder: Is it really profitable to publish a porn game on Steam? And are there really people who prefer to play it on Steam? Why?

It can bring a new audience to your work. It’s how I first got into the genre because I saw a game on Steam during a sale and tried it. Then I became a Patron for that developer as a result.

What I'll prrrrrobably do is just leave the age as a variable, and if someone wants to they can just edit that variable to be what they want. This is one of those things where I've honestly had more people complain about it than tell me they like it.But he's removing it from the taboo patch is what I'm sayingThe option wasn't available to begin with unless you had the patch.
I mean, I'm pretty sure this would be an easy mod for anyone who wanted to take the time. But still.
Eventually. I don't want to put out an early access thing though, so I'll wait until I have a nice, solid little chunk of the game done, and then I can sell it as FiN: Part One. That won't be for a bit, though.Any chance Neon is planning on selling this on Steam? I just don't know if people would enjoy reading that much text, in that format. And I feel like I'd almost need a 'placeholder' image between the existing images.. Maybe I'm overthinking it, though?Flashbacks, like Ashe telling Guy about that time she was tricked by a twink and how her dad beated him to a pulp.
It's not that much work I think. Just some background images and more text than usual.
I don't want to tell other devs' business, but -- yes. Games that have fewer subscribers/less reviews/less activity than FiN have hit six figures, pre-tax.I don't know where this discussion about Steam comes from but I wonder: Is it really profitable to publish a porn game on Steam? Oh, you would be surprised. Compared to Steam, Patreon pulls rookie numbers. And we're still at a weird moment when only a fraction of AVNs are on Steam while the demand is sky-high, so whoever releases is bound to do well.I don't know where this discussion about Steam comes from but I wonder: Is it really profitable to publish a porn game on Steam?
It's a one-time purchase, you get the latest release and all the new updates as soon as they're released (same as top level patrons). If the game is still in development (early access) and the developer suddenly disappears abandoning the game Steam reimburses you. All things considered it's more comfortable than piracy and the price are more or less aligned with what the users are willing to pay.And are there really people who prefer to play it on Steam? Why?
As long as the flashbacks are small like Viola or Ashe stories I think it can work. Of course not everyone wants to read long tirades without porn. You can make it optional for those of us who like to learn more about one character or another. Like Do you want to see the flashback? Yes/No.What I'll prrrrrobably do is just leave the age as a variable, and if someone wants to they can just edit that variable to be what they want. I just respond to things where I sees them.I have no idea of how in the world all of this could be considered on topic.
Have you ever heard of the General Discussion subforum?
Or the short stories could be acessed from the main menu, like i saw other games doing it. That way the stories get very visible for the players and they can also choose to read them or not.As long as the flashbacks are small like Viola or Ashe stories I think it can work. I'm trying to give you ideas to make it without investing too much work/time on it. If your idea is to make 100-200 renders with those stories that would be better of course.
I think the way I would do it is to have a section in the main menu, like a gallery but for the stories that would be unlocked when the player gets far enough into the game. It's fun seeing that little popup in the top left telling you you've unlocked something.I just don't know if people would enjoy reading that much text, in that format. Not a bad idea but I would prefer that content integrated into the main story for immersion.Or the short stories could be acessed from the main menu, like i saw other games doing it. That way the stories get very visible for the players and they can also choose to read them or not.
+1 to having it as extra content available in the menu, or even unlocked in game at certain points or by clicking on things if you want to make it more interactive and have more people go and check it out to see what they've unlocked.I think the way I would do it is to have a section in the main menu, like a gallery but for the stories that would be unlocked when the player gets far enough into the game. It can be very profitable. Although there's more on there now it's definitely a place creators should not ignore. Is it really profitable to publish a porn game on Steam?
You get two weeks or two hours for a refund. If a developer stops working on a game valve will not refund you.and the developer suddenly disappears abandoning the game Steam reimburses you
It does if the game is in early access. Which is the reason why most game are releasing in seasons lol.You get two weeks or two hours for a refund. If a developer stops working on a game valve will not refund you.
I've seen some people say they prefer to purchase a game on Steam rather than donate through Patreon to support a VN. I think it comes down to a simple transaction for a product vs. a continuous stream of donations to a creator. It's a different mindset and in that mindset, Steam is just more cost-effective while still monetarily supporting the creator.I don't know where this discussion about Steam comes from but I wonder: Is it really profitable to publish a porn game on Steam?
