I hope the developer finishes the marathon of restyling the old game and starts giving us some plot movement. Thank you very much, but we need movement.
I keep saying this, but: nobody wants to be over this hump more than me. Trying to complete the next chapter, while also fixing code and making little quality improvements to the previous twelve chapters, has been profoundly exhausting. It doesn’t help that the next chapter ballooned up to 1400+ renders, making it one of the larger ones thus far.

For anyone who wants to accuse me of milking or stalling (and I’m not saying you are, but that’s the standard line), I’ll point out what I always point out:
  • There’s currently a playable demo with 1250 images available. It has at least two places where I could’ve ended the chapter in a satisfying place, and released the chapter as-is. There’s already a few ero scenes in it and a good deal of plot movement, so it’s not exactly light on content.
  • My dev income always gets a substantial pop with a new Alpha, from people who sign up for a month just to get it, or new subs who come in after they see it on pirate sites, etc.

So, if I was super dedicated to making my life easier, I’d have released a 900~ image demo months ago, enjoyed a nice little payday, and gotten a reprieve from, “Update when?!” posts. But, I promised my subscribers that this update would end with a big Gabby ero scene, so that’s what I’m pushing toward. It’ll be done when I feel happy with it.

I really, really do not like putting out broken, buggy, or incomplete chapters. Zero shade on other developers, but there’s not much I hate more than playing a much-anticipated new chapter, and getting to a route where it says, “Oh, sorry, this isn’t done yet. Check back in six months and it’ll be finished.”

My chapters are released when they’re finished, and not when I just feel too tired to continue. Because that would’ve been back in like, September.

Please, any time you see one of these idiots complaining they aren't getting their shit for free fast enough, just block them. No point wasting mental energy on entitled kids. Also, thanks for the honest post.

When a dev goes and tries to redo their entire game to make it safe for HR, it never ends well. 99.9% chance this game is abandoned, and 100% chance it's FAR worse than it would have been otherwise.
Look, I can understand the frustration when seeing a project you like not going the direction you want or taking more time than you'd like, but as is often the case on this forum, your complaint just seems wrong.
NeonGhosts has already adressed the milking accusation so I'll just stick to my point : thinking that the remake was to "make it safe for HR". I understand the meaning but that's just, plainly, not true? What changed that made it "safe for HR" (which I understand as meaning "woke etc")? The main thing that changed is the beginning and it's agruably as dark as before. Granted, the "first victim" is not Nikki so there is maybe less at stake but 1) you can still get very dark with that poor brazilian girl (I'm sure she deserves it, probably some problematic german ancestry there!) 2) you can STILL be very dark with Nikki just afterwards.
I have difficulties seeing where the remake went more "safe for HR" as you put it.

Again, frustration and impatience is an understable feeling, but accusing the game of going woke and/or milking subs is really just...just trolling...aaaaw fuck I've been had again.

edit : as for the comment above (I don't know how to add a quote in an edit), I disagree : the fact that NeonGhosts always adresses posts like that is what (amongst other things obviously) makes him different from some other devs. Always there to adress criticism, justified or not, even on this forum. Honestly, a good part of why I respect him.

The bigger problem is not redoing the game, but removing content.
I believe most people play the game because of its content and if there is no content you want to see, you simply don't have any reason to play

In your last status update you said the full season 1 will be released Friday and it's Saturday already, thus proving you are nothing but a dairy farmer!

The reason I say to block and ignore the posters who make those sorts of posts is because they are not the slightest bit interested in what others or the dev have to say so you are just wasting your time with them. They just want their free meal, and they want it yesterday, and they'll whine like babies if they don't get it. It's becoming more and more common for these entitled kids to feel empowered if they get a response from the dev, and it only encourages that behaviour. The devs should just focus on their paying supporters and people who are willing to give constructive feedback or just have a fun discussion.

I hate to put on my armchair phychologist sweater, but that's a LOT of projection for such a short post.

You still trust the deadlines given by Neon? xD Haven't you noticed yet that he has trouble estimating how long things will take? Probably because he likes to change things and add little details.

I appreciate the support! Honestly, 99% of people are super cool and supportive, and I don't care if people genuinely want to ask me for progress reports, etc. I only ever get annoyed at people who are like, "RIP another one bites the dust... sad... :(" when the last release of actual, new content was in like.. June. That's much longer than I'd like to go without a new release, but in the world of AVNs I feel like it's still pretty good? Especially while I'm being pulled in different directions with the S1 fixes, and having a really chaotic time in my personal life.

So Christmas release?
Here's what I'd consider a win, by the end of November:
  • Season 1: All chapters fully integrated with planned path corrections in place. Save file migration working well. Short stories integrated.
  • Season 2: First chapter is released with Gabby's love path in place. This will let me put a pin in the Friends Indeed Alpha release for Patreon, and will give me one final, mostly complete demo build for Friends in Need, before finishing up the other routes for early-mid December release of the FiN Alpha.
I hope things proceed more quickly than that. But if I can get at least that much done, I'll be happy.

In your last status update you said the full season 1 will be released Friday and it's Saturday already, thus proving you are nothing but a dairy farmer!
Yeahhh.. I got one chapter done, though! The last one is a little more annoying though, due to rearranging some stuff with Dash and Pepper, and I've been tinkering with the save file migration to get it working correctly. Plus, I still need to do some renders to smooth out some transitions, etc.

I blame my ADHD, actually. It makes it really difficult to accurately estimate how much time I need to do things, avoid procrastination, etc. And this is also why this cycle, where I've been trying to juggle the S1 fixes with making new S2 content has been so difficult for me. I'm constantly being pulled back and forth, which leads to a lot of puttering around with five different things, rather than zeroing in on one thing.

Please, if there's a person here we want to watch taking off sweaters, it's Brittani.

In fact, NeonGhosts how about a little render of Brittani in a virgin slayer sweater, to divert this discussion...:coffee:
Well, it's not a sweater buuuut..
