Nicki is not Guy's ex-girlfriend. At most they've had sex once and there's some mutual attraction, but this is all. And yes, i would let my close friend move in, instead of getting all wrapped up in "oh but she has spent some time with a pervert" as if this somehow invalidated anything and everything that has happened in prior years between you two. Regardless of if they were an ex or not. If you think only a "simp" would help a friend in such situation... again, i don't think you really understand those concepts. Or you have such different idea of them i'm just glad i don't share it.

First you need to learn that other people has diffrent views and see story in diffrent ways then you do, since you can clearly not understand or choose to ignore the fact that i DONT see her as a friend but at best an ex that left and yes taking someone like that back in to live with you is a simp in my eyes, how you define a simp is up to you.

Its fine you dont want to call her an ex-girlfriend but they had a sexual relationship, she knew how Guy felt, she was falling in love with him or so she claims and yet she leaves him without a word and never contact him, its not just the hole idiotic thing of her moving in with a perverted stranger she dosent even know, its everything combined, she dosent come running back to Guy untill she find herself in problems with gangsters or whatever wanting her to make porn and after getting kicked out by the stranger, Guy is her very last choice, so im sorry thats not good enough for me to forgive and forget.

We will never agree on the issue since you see story one way i see it in another way, problem for me is you dont have a choice in it, atleast not yet who knows what remake will be, but if dev remember how many haters Nicky had back before remake he might make the story right this time around we will see.

It's for that reason that I don't just want to toss a few looping tracks into the game, and call it a day. I'd rather have no music, than bad music.

For animations, I don't really enjoy them, for the most part.. It's rare that I see Daz animations I think look genuinely great. Add to that they take a lot of time to render, and it's a new skillset I'd need to learn, and it's just not something I'd like to explore right now.

Now, I have seen some animations that I thought looked really nice. If I could hire someone to do something on this level, I'd be all for it. But until then, I'd rather just use my little 2-3 frame 'flipbook' animations.

I actually don't even use headphones when playing avns. You could have put music in, and I wouldn't have noticed.

Yeah, that's the other big thing. A number of people have told me they automatically disable music/sounds for AVNs. And even the people who want music seem to want it as more of an obligatory thing, than out of any feeling it would fundamentally improve the game experience.

for me I don't need animations as long as I get an emotional romantic scene between two characters

dialog that shows how much they love each other and how much they're passionate about each other

even a little thing like how they hold each other after love making

or how they cuddle with each other while they're asleep and wake up in the morning

I don't know if I explained it properly but that's what's important to me

Why would someone chose to listen to some mediocre at best free to use music when you can open Spotify and listen to something you really like?

For music, some devs just fire up some free software and drum up some tunes. What about remixing the things you already got: some tunes on your phone, your laptop, your PC, even the RenPy out of the box tunes could be a starting point.

Yeahhh, and this stuff has always kinda been my priority, over super flashy animations and such. It's why basically every ero scene I do, has so many dang images. I want to show all the weird, sweet, funny stuff that people do in bed, as well as what leads there and what happens after.

I think stuff like this, or submissive Nicki blowing on your face to wake you up after you handcuff her the night before, or Risa taking her socks off after she gives you a footjob, or Mason falling asleep on top of you, etc. all make the interactions feel more real. And that's more important to me than a super crisp animation loop.

that would be me when im playing an AVN cause im lazy but that is more or less cause I see music as background and don't pay attention to it but I just like not complete silence. Also the music I like would be too distracting to listen to when playing an AVN so if an AVN doesn't have any I look up something that is on a 2 - 5 hours + loop

I'm one of those that instantly turn the sound off in AVN's, so I don't really have a valid opinion about that. But that seems like a lot of work if you want to do your own music, even if you've got the talent and the setup for it. Very low priority, if even that.
As for animation, honestly... I've seen so many bad ones and they usually just break the flow of the narrative. I don't see what they could add to the ambience and if I want animated stuff there are better-adapted medias for that, in my opinion. It's a visual novel, not a narrated video. Good writing and good renders seem way more powerful to me.
I can enjoy high quality animations like the ones NeonGhosts linked in his post (thanks for the link, btw) but making them for an AVN with regular ero scenes would take so much time, I imagine...and again, even with high quality, it usualy just breaks the flow of the story in my opinion.

The mix of images and animation has always seemed like a weird, not-so-good creative choice, to me.

Long way of saying that, as usual, I don't have any complaints! Even Viola's new hairstyle is working fine for me.

Maybe is not that deep, sometimes you don't like a character and that is.
I like Nicki, even if remake Nicki is more bland as a characteer than the original. She's still Guy's old friend and the game story works better when she's at least working for him. Not my top girl but their vanilla love story writes itself.

Not saying you can't dislike her character, or that you have to enjoy every aspect of her writing. I'm just saying from the perspective of someone who is just here for the story, there's nothing totally out there about Nicki's character. So she's a bit of a self-destructive wreck; that's just drama, and it's also a reflection of real-life people out in the world. Seems finicky to me to drop this game because of a little drama from Nicki's corner of it, one of many other characters, or to refuse to even entertain the character's perspective just because they didn't do what you would've done, or what you think they should've done. That kind of insistence on 'clean' characters excludes a lot of great works, and I would argue it would severely limit the story.

Veering off a little here, but I think that if Guy represents the every-man, the screw-up that everyone wants to see succeed, Nicki is the female counterpart of that. Maybe moreso, actually, considering that Guy's the MC and his intro kind of springs him into success going forward for some fantasy realization on the player's part, whereas Nicki's character has more freedom to independently arc since she isn't bound by being the MC in an adult VN.

Hey man, I'm not trying to argue with you further or anything, I respect your view and all that. I just wanna say: keep in mind that the remake majorly changed the 1st chapter and part of the 2nd, and also that Nicki doesn't stay at MC's apartment for very long before she moves out. She's a major character that's not going to go away unless you keep raping her or something, so if you don't like that, obviously the game probably isn't going to be ideal for you.

Would it be possible to more easily add animations now with the use of AI, something like unlucid maybe? I say that because I see a lot of games using that now and they honestly look really good if done right.

To be honest the scenes in the game are already good enough in my opinion but I figured I might as well mention the unlucid thing.

I've played around with AI stuff, annnnnd.. Some of it looks fine. I did a bukkake video of Brittani, as kind of a proof of concept. My supporters didn't seem too into it. I think I posted that here, too.. But, there's always this weird, uncanny valley aspect of them, where you can tell you're looking at a video trained on real humans, with a Daz skin over the whole thing.

Plus, I know at least one dev has gotten in trouble with Steam for using AI animations -- reason being that they looked too real/lifelike, and Steam doesn't want real porn on their platform.

Okay thanks for replying I wasn't aware of that.

Yeah, the Unlucid ones in particular actually look really good with the Daz models but if the Steam thing is your goal it doesn't make sense then to use them.

Maybe in the patch or something outside of that, if the supporters approved.

in my personal opinion AI is a fun toy to play with but please don't make animations using it

in my opinion random AI animations can't hold a candle to animations made by a human where everything is deliberate and planned

from the movements to the facial expressions to every angle being deliberate and designed to send a message
