Someone saw the image of the costume looking through a door window and wrote an SCP article about it and took the liberties of making them into a digital hallucination that stalks the user. Not actually sure what sparked the wild fire that was furries finally discovering Mal0 because there genuinely wasn't much of them for like 5 or 6 years and it just slowly picked up speed until it just grew exponentially and she got her cult following going. Now she's kind of like a nice staple.
