so i feel like being an enchanter isnt really explained well. Like, what does it mean in practice? is he a super magic man besides being a ayrianite? whats the difference between an avalonian thats an enchanter and one thats not. Is their magic stronger or is the only perk being able to control/commune with their house?
It's explained a bit in the opening...and a little bit more along the way.
Enchanters are humans (or at least part human) who can see Avalonians true forms.
Other humans just see them as regular people.
An Enchanter must be part human, cannot be full Avalonian, at least that's the way it's portrayed.
The Housekeeper can be full Avalonian.
Enchanters are/can be head of a house.
A house must have an Enchanter or it can't "exist".
The Enchanter is the official "head of household".
The Enchanter's involvement in the house's affairs varies, but basically the Enchanter is/can be the "boss".
The Enchanter and Housekeeper of a house are usually spouses.
The MC is "super magic" because he/she is half ayrianit (higher magic reserve), otherwise they'd be a "regular" Enchanter with some degree of magic ability.
No, an Enchanter's magic isn't necessarily stronger, as is demonstrated several times.
In the MC's case, they are connected to the house in a way because the mother was the previous Enchanter.
It's been a minute, but I seem to recall a few lines mentioning that houses are usually passed to the next Enchanter in the family line. If that person refuses, the house could cease to exist and be disbanded. Something about the house having to "accept" the Enchanter or something like that...
So yeah, the house and Enchanter are connected in a way that others aren't.
