Correct. From a marketing perspective the dev alienated his fans and audience by switching genres. Worse, reading MM's reviews, there's very little mention of how well written it was. Instead, most positive reviews mention its lewds and graphics.



Again, you're entirely right.
Steam recommends games based on playtime and reviews. So, the dev's first priority needs to be to develop a game that's polished and keeps players interested. The age rating matters so little, and I very much doubt the 17-18 year-olds are going to be his biggest market segment. No, it will be adults, the same adults who support his patreon.


After giving the game an honest try, this is what I ended up doing. Not out of spite or anything (I have nu issues playing an AVN celibately), but because the writing just isn't at the required level to carry a story- and character driven AVN.
The 0.4 patreon version has 1 lewd scene, of a woman and an escort. I actually liked the steam version a bit more after that.

Know what, I'm going to change the age rating, might not be NOW in this moment but You are right that was wrong of me to think and do - but I've experienced it first hand that adult games aren't as pushed as other indie games, seeing and hearing about this scared me quite a bit, and also compare this one with the previous one and treat it as such- causing misunderstanding all over.

And though I get the alienation of fanbase, I don't know what to say about that- I already made a pure AVN, I'm done with that taste- I just want to do something different here and I absolutely accounted for that.

I'll always be of the opinion that devs need to stay true to their vision. So if "pure AVN" isn't what you want to make, then don't. (Though I'd argue that MM wasn't a pure AVN either)
That not everyone will be happy with that choice, that's something you'll have to deal with as a normal consequence.

About FE, the lack of lewds doesn't matter to me. But at the same time there's this confusing incestuous undertone between Flynn and Carmine that I find weird.

you took the words right out of my mouth, it matters not to me the creative choices that any dev make in their projects, i will always respect artist visions and narrative even if i didn't like certain aspects of their storytelling

also if any AVN dev came out and say i have to change certain aspects of my original work to be allowed to release on steam and abide by their guidelines they'll have my full respect and appreciation, i'll still buy to support but will come here to download as i care less about achievements and other steam perks rather than to view the original unadulterated work (but prefer downloading from steam due to its convenience and ease of organizing)

and i care less personally weather an AVN has lewd scenes or not, unless the dev is a milker (and boy we have a lot of those nowadays) then and only then i have problems, usually i come here to view tags to see which AVN to prioritize viewing but i buy everything nonetheless!!

but in this case i know you understand my frustration, even if it's just one scene he took out it's a choice this dev make willingly and for the wrong reasons sadly, it's his project at the end of the day to do with it whatever he wants but me and you as paying customers have every rights to vent our feedback and frustration, and in this instant it's my pet peeve with the whole patreon and devs that change/remove (for other than guidelines reasons) or lock content behind extra paywall outside of steam, or seek lower rating in hopes of better sales and they themselves compromising their integrities!
