If you can't beat the robot, just use the default save in the game and go to where the robot is. There will now be a point of light that will take you to the resistance room, where you will find the egg clan painting and all the parts

You are not using the latest version of the save, Defeating the robot opens access to the secret room, In the save file that comes with the latest version, you can now enter without fighting her.

What are cheats and how do I get around the obstacle? After I lose to the robot and try to climb the stairs, I see a message in the left corner that says "Closed."

Save edit and speak to the guy. He literally tells you lol. If not your just screwed.
