They signaled they were willing to mislead you to think that. If anything they should they are not wiling to do it. I think the backlash of that garbage Wallis update was enough that they will not completely ruin Renee (they basically published a statement saying "We will not do the garbage Wallis part 2 redemption again, don't worry"), but don't expect much.

Any chance for an unlock for the journal?Here's a gallery unlocker that will probably work for any future updates as well.
Make sure the filename is gallery_unlocker.rpy and place it in the /game/ folder.

It does. You put the file in the right folder, turn the game on, close the game, then turn it back on. Worked for me.
Doesn't work for the journal, though.
