Helped me give some sympathy to the developers, I suggest checking out their discord

i realized i'd basically blown my entire 30's no-lifing this game

New guy here.
How frequent are the updates and how close is the game to being finished? I know it has the completed tag but i saw some talk about unfinished stuff
Updates are infrequent and have no set schedule, and the game is technically finished in sense that you can play it to the end and it has endings. It's still missing basic game features (such as its gallery), story cut-scenes, and critical bug fixes. It's only been released at all, after years of stalled development, due to going through steam approval process despite being in not too different of a state years back.

I estimate that by the end of the year it will be fully finished and "polished" as they say it
Right now the first few areas are pretty nicely done but the last ones are a bit rough, I hope I'm right.
Best to check the discord to know better, I think there's a bug and missing content list somewhere
Also there are custom maps that pretty much act as galleries as far as I remember

I think the game just fell off, and never came back as intended. Cloudy communication, data banks prioritized over everything else, and time just passed. The animations got less impressive, the hype started to wane. It's a shame because if it would have come out when excitement was high, this game would be a memorable one. As it stands, it's kind of, out, but still in limbo, if that makes sense.

Lol HW is a worse writer than Nolan and Kojima combined.

The amount of exposition and plot dump in this game is off the charts. Ever heard of "show, don't tell" ?

There's even a part once you beat the fire boss, Talia pauses, and thinks aloud "how do I feel about this"? And you press a button to DECIDE what you feel like

Didn't game devs learn since inFamous that this is bad design? They should've taken a note from Silent Hill 2's book

I guess you didn´t pay attention at the part "The game is unfinished yet"! (Facepalm)

The game's release had been delayed numerous times over nearly a decade. It released in February this year, and has only received three major updates that have still left the game unfinished. The coming fourth update, whenever it releases, will also still leave the game unfinished. The dev stated that they'll no longer be providing release dates for updates and future projects. Imo this removes deadline pressure, even if they insist it doesn't (given their deadline track record). I'm not holding my breath.

It's missing more than basic game features. You can play it from start to end, but there are still incomplete sections and levels. The game is being made available for purchase on other sites without disclaimer of this too.

Dude is the epitome of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Going from thousands, to tens of thousands of dollars a month to now being broke while still working on this now mediocre product. An entire slew of developers from the early 2010’s milking patreon money and yet most of them, too, are now broke or had to abandon their shit for burger flipping jobs instead. Would be sad if most of them didn’t purposefully take years upon years and steal money that they couldn’t even invest into their own game lol.

The game has problems from level 1 but I think the moment the game truly starts to completely break down is the factory mission. There is a secret area in that level thats incredibly hard to get to, and has whats supposed to be an infinite hp cheat code, but the cheat code doesn't work and the message claims that the game is still in the demo phase.

Its like thats literally the moment at which the devs gave up,because after the boss you face right after the entire game ceases to even have cutscenes, truly an omen.

that's because they're grifters and grifters are morons. I'm willing to bet these retarded motherfuckers didn't spend a dime of the Patreon money on their projects and blew all of it on stupid bullshit rather than talking to a financial advisor and investing that shit in something that makes them a stable monthly income.

LMAO! a bunch of nerds at Capcom made 24 mainline Mega Man games back when they had no engines or frameworks that code shit for you, and this fuckin loser wasted a decade of his life making some Playstation platformer in an age where you make games with the most minimal, least amount of coding.
