holy shit the last level is brutal, and I don't even know if the endings are implemented, even if they are the cutscenes leading to them aren't so I don't have context

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh

the thing that broke me was an area where it seems like you need to do that freeze an enemy and superjump trick twice to get something. but the rooms are now require switch puzzles and and world shifting to navigate and with enemies that absolutely suck to fight against.

way too much of a difficulty spike

Really disappointed that they've been pushing back a new patch that they've been hyping for months from Originally "It'll be out in September!" to "Something happened, so it'll be here early October." and then when October 31st hits, it's "We uploaded it to Itch, but it's acting funky on Steam, so see it there really soon!" for several days.

Then, looking at the patch notes, it reveals:

"You can actually consider this sort of a "part 1" of Patch #4: there were a LOT of things we got prepared for this build, but either didn't have the time to fully integrate (like the huge amount of additional SFX coming soon) or that we were having issues with, so we wanted to give it some more time to fix issues (like the full gallery).

So, within a week or two, expect another patch that should add in a lot of those things that we had mostly done!"

...And lacks the gallery mode, which was the main point of the patch according to them, and one of the main complaints for players. So actually the patch that they've pushed out is really more of bugfixes and ~some~ of the missing content that hasn't been in there since the game release. And the real patch should be ~soon~. Feels like a mini Summertime Saga situation where they throw out bits just to keep the hungry wolves at bay and keep promising things are around the corner.

man i have tried so hard to be patient. to recognize that there are real humans behind this project. and they gave the game away to anyone who had supported the game in the past, which is super cool. I respect that.

But my god man. I cannot fucking take this anymore. The last new animations i saw for this game were in the fucking end level, back in like 2019 or some shit. fuck this bs man

If they ever produce another game, I'm not spending a single cent until there is a full gallery. So I'll be back in a decade maybe

After finishing the game, I'm...Well, whelmed?

It's clearly *very* incomplete beyond the 3rd (gravity) zone. There are no NPCs in the 4th and 5th zones and barely, if any, story dialogue. There are also no "fun" unlockables after completing the game, such as New Game+, a debug room, ability to run around naked (Like that one segment before the final boss), cheats, etc. Which also means you have to replay the whole game to get the different endings. Which appear to be nothing but text.

The gallery is also very incomplete, missing all story / event animations as well as area boss pixel animations. Aside from the pixel H-anims, it's a pretty mediocre, barebones and obviously incomplete game.

i have to wonder who is this game for like the gameplay is just generic platformer then there is half a book worth of just background text logs which im willing to bet less then 100 people will ever read and then the actual porn feels like it was sanitized to hell and back to the point the scenes come of as cringy

The crazy thing was that the text logs weren't even originally the focus, just one day mid-development HW decided he wanted to write and here we are, and it was simply a game that came out during the early years of western adult games where the landscape wasn't as developed and a game of this effort was actually very impressive (just talking about first level, ofcourse, not what we got now.) The scenes were also not as sanitized, there weren't these whole patreon restrictions like we have today, and HW would actively take feedback on every part of game development and keep in active touch.

Now it only exists specifically to satisfy the author's ego as you have pointed it out correctly: no one asked for nor wanted all these text dumps. And as you have noticed: the game came out a whole generation past its relevance.

I'm pretty sure all that's because of the feature creep. It started as a platformer and then the author wanted to expand on the world and the story that adapts based on your choices and suddenly the game has a ton of systems and ideas that all work against each other.

At the start you should come up with a design document and if you have a new idea you need to go back to that document to see if it works, and be realistic about the length of time it would take to implement it.

Without that document the author clearly lost focus on how the game should come together and it ended up like this. Same reason why a game like Starfield turned out terribly, teams moving forward hoping things will work out instead of planning it.

The problem with calling it feature creep is, usually that's the result of executive meddling where the corporate overlords want to cram as much as they can into their game to make it more marketable

This is an example of HW doing feature creep TO HIMSELF
