Because a lot of them are made with smut art taken from various artists, and there is A LOT.
And now with AI art, it's very easy to get decent renders (provided you know how to use the AI's prompt system at it's best efficiency obviously), since there are a lot of reference.
It's also an extremely well known franchise spanning multiple generations of internet users, so more potential players.

Some of you need to chill, the AI is only good in this because the dude literally says he fixes it up in photoshop to keep it consistent which means he puts more effort into it than 99% of AI dog shit. If someone with poor art skills wants to make something then why bash them for using AI if they at least put effort into it. Like trust if this was purely AI with 0 editing and just a lazy cash grab then I'd be on board but from what I see that's not the case.

Now, LAZY AI art I have a problem with. People trying to cash in by putting out SLOP. I don't give people a free pass, and I railed at another game that was posted that used AI art and it was a mess.
But using custom trained models to create consistent art is something entirely different and it's AI being used correctly; as a tool. For all you know, this person just likes to write and can now make the game they've always dreamt of making instead of using some low poly gobbo model that looks like it was rendered on a PS1.
They're probably using a Naruto based Lora of some sort, and I say more power to them.

I know many people hate AI... I am not one of them. If AI can make such games possible, why hate? Its just win for everyone. We can enjoy nice looking games, that gets updates often becaue of AI, creator can focus on making good game and not on looking for artists (and then they quit, change and other things happen) or if they are artists themselves they can use AI to help them, make base of art that they can improve. Or just make backgrounds and so on..
