DevLog #27
Hi guys!
Oh my God, it's been nearly two months since the last DevLog... Time flies, I suppose.
Sorry for the wait. I'll explain it in no time.
About Chapter 2 Part C and Extended version... and everything else!
While I haven't finished
Extended version yet, I've been
focusing more on Part C for several reasons. Mainly, I needed some details completed so that I can proceed with the changes I want to make to Ch.1 and 2. So far, this task is... busy, as one would expect!
Percentages are completely subjective right now. Feel free to take it with a grain of salt.
Probably not as much progress as you'd expect... Definitely not what I expected. I assumed the
Extended version would already be available at this point.
If it wasn't for the computer and application crashes I've been experiencing for nearly a month.
This alone, I believe, wouldn't be enough to completely halt development, but I did a
clean reinstall in case of malware or software corruption of any kind. Which, in the end, wasn't the cause.
In fact, I'm writing this devlog now that the source of the system's instability has been identified and addressed. I had my suspicions, but it's official:
my CPU is degrading. This is a common issue with 13th-gen Intel processors. After a few weeks of researching, stress testing almost every component and looking for any type of malfunction, reducing the frequency of specific cores allowed my system to run almost flawlessly.
This doesn't mean it won't happen again. The CPU degradation is irreversible and is only expected to get worse. I will RMA it as soon as I finish development and have some free time.
Honestly, 2025 is proving to be an uphill battle. Much tougher than 2024 and 2023 (the game had not yet been released). I just hope the second half makes up for the first!
Enough drama!
I'll be switching back to the
Extended version very soon. I intend to complete the remaining tasks, and I sincerely hope to announce a date next time (no, not in two months). Not as exciting as a new version, but essential for Part C, as I previously stated.
Computer crashes have given me some
screen-free time, which I appreciate! I've been planning future branching in a notebook, which I found both stressful and relaxing...
To be honest, the
render count is likely to increase significantly from this release onward. My next goal is to get a second rendering machine so that I can double production... Welp, most likely, I won't double production, but I'm confident it would be an important boost in my capacity to bake renders!
There are also some previews of a small scene I recently reworked for the Extended version on our Discord server, so feel free to check it out and compare the changes!
Also, a new poll for the next Special Renders set is coming very soon. Hope you're ready!
As always, thank you for your patience and your support!
See you soon,
Mango
