guilty as charged, your honor. But I'm new here in my defense (kinda)
Know what, go off Johnjacky the Elder. Not quite sure what the Rome in this analogy is, but Homaspernia delenda est
On a more serious note, I don't think that Homaspernia should be completely destroyed, but it definitely needs reform. It seems the problem with it is more that it's ruled and shaped by a corrupt, self-serving, sadistic, hedonistic, violent, and varying degrees of messed up in the head ruling class, who in turn crafted a society and laws that served to benefit that. Because, yeah, it's a sort of free for all, but if you do break the laws, and if you do it in relation to someone of great importance, you're fucked. They'll kill you or enslave you. That group of bandits that got the death penalty because that Countess' had her servant's (or pet really) death faked to get them murder charges. All because she was a little miffed that her favorite one got a little scar.
( Yet said Countess is also completely fine with having her favorite servant/pet have his entire bone structure, appearance and memories changed permanently just to have those bandits killed instead of just having them go to prison or become slaves. And I'm going to guess that jury trials or criminal trials beyond "yeah you did it, next." probably don't exist to dispute or actually prove charges here).
I'd say that the giantess would be exempt from these laws, but even then it seems more that the laws benefit them until they don't. It's stated, when Kendra, Nyxmay, and Vai'Klis are having their definitely platonic homoerotic sexy bath fun time with the MC that they'd done something similar with a high ranking demon and nearly killed the guy. It's implied that they would've gotten into a massive amount of trouble if they actually did, and got lucky that they were able to heal the guy and him seemingly enjoying the experience enough to not say anything.
Anyways, we also meet plenty of basically normal(As in not any of the above listed things on the near regular, I probably could've explained ) people Homaspernia. That demon who had his wife and daughter killed seems to have just been a guy other than having his family destroyed and getting to take part in the "Choose How Those Who Wronged You Are Executed" ceremony, the Giantess Succubus( I can't remember her name, or the demon dad's name right now) that also took part in that seems fairly normal. Most of Vai'Klis' customers are also fairly normal, they just come in to get help with what are basically health and hygiene problems. The only one that I can really think of being an exception is that one ghost trying to find a man, who even then gets a talking down to by Vai'Klis. Hell, other than what her friends do on the regular, Vai'Klis is fairly normal too( And Kendra and Nyxmay also are pretty normal around her too, and they don't seem to mind either). Honestly it seems more the problem for these normal people is that they are trapped there, forced to be there, or forced to embrace or participate in Homaspernia's way of life, with all it's corrupt, sadistic glory. The undead exist in plentiful quantities there not only because of the dark magic and people who make undead, but also because until recently it was the only place where they wouldn't be killed by a whole ass army dedicated to killing them. And despite how few actual supports exist for the undead in Homaspernia, it's still one of the few places were they won't completely waste away in like a few months. And vampires and presumbly other races are heading there in droves from the other kingdoms because they can't make a living anywhere else.
Anyways, this was to much to say that to me at least, the problem with Homaspernia comes from its society, ruling class, and the culture that perpetuates it all. Lots of reform needs to take place to fix it, but lets not go completely towards mass destruction here. Probably could've worded everything here better, but I decided to type this damn essay off the cuff, so who knows. Also I don't know what to do with the magic corruption of the land and everything in it, I'm not sure how to deal with Homaspernia also being that world's largest superfund site.
On a completely unrelated note, you ever wonder about Vai'Klis and her whole deal. Like, she genuinely one of the more kind and gentle giantesses in the game, she refuses to sell deadly potions and poisons too, and will sometimes just give potions to her clients if they need them. And if you play your cards right as the MC, her route is one of the sweeter ones in my opinion. Even how her death is relayed to us, she had powerful soldiers sent to kill her for the crime of getting too close to Kendra. And her remaining memories come back to her as nightmares, it's all just tragic, and she goes on nonetheless.
But still, I don't know, feel like there's going to be more revealed about her and her life before she died, and the reason she was killed. Because she knows still seems to know about all those deadly potions and things of that sort, even if she doesn't make them, or make them anymore. And she barely remembers anything about her life before, and well her friends support her in a lot of things, they don't do a lot to help her in piecing back together what she has left of her memories. They really seem more focused in keeping her grounded in the present, and keeping her grounded as herself, which I get with the condition she has, but still find it curious that they aren't really doing all that much to help on the memory front, other than like being sleep aids and helping her stay herself instead a discordant ghost. Also the story about her death is told to us by Kendra who we know both despises her mother and doesn't completely accept that Vai is dead, and Maryen only confirms that their mother sent the soldiers, but not much else about the story.
IDK, I'm probably reading to much into this, and honestly Vai'Klis is one of my favorite characters and routes in this game, but like I feel we're eventually going to be revealed that she also got up to some real heinous or dangerous shit in the past (Like arguably a majority of the Homaspernian giantess population), but there was something about what she did, along with her being so close to Kendra that lead to soldiers being sent to put her down. I just feel it being Mother Dearest not liking Kendra's friends and choosing the most nuclear option possible seems too convenient. Alternatively, I could be reading to much into it to the point of typing a couple paragraphs about it instead of doing something actually productive. IDK, I just want her updated soon. Anyways, I typed to much, sorry everyone.
