Ren'Py - Completed - Girl House [v1.5.21 Extra] [Astaros3D]

This game had me conflicted at first, the story begins decently and the renders are pretty great.
But quickly you notice that the game consists of 95% sandbox garbage.

The characters are interesting initially and seem to have their own personality and quircks but later all that is abandoned and they turn into bisexual sexdolls.
Still these dolls have more personality then the mc however, there no female on the cast that has any interest in the mc besides using him like a chump or occasionally a wandering dick without personality for their pleasure, with a small exception fpr the landlady who has some fetish about boys who look like her dead/missing son.

The sex scenes although very few are good but when you play for hours of sandbox and get few seconds of dialogue and animations the quality doesnt really matter, not worth it regardless.

After you move into the house with the "landlady" the whole plot is more or less gone and the games only drive is to sandbox from event to event.

Not sure if the bad formula in story/dialogue/renders vs sandbox is due to lazyness or just an actual bad idea.

This game had potential but I think its too far in to development to save it at this stage, maby collaborate with an actual storyteller for your next project and concider dropping the sandbpx play or make it a small part of the game as a whole atleast.

This game remains to be a mixed bag for me. I've played/ followed the game since its early release and the biggest issue - quest log / knowning what to do next - is still a mess. There is a help button, but the tips are often too vague, you won't ever know HOW to trigger the events exactly. I got stuck in progression quite often just because of it.

On the other hand, there is the superb render quality, along with the fluid detailed animations. I like the selection of women / girls also.

Okay, this is a game that is all about the graphics. I skip the gameplay altogether and go for the gallery mode. It's definitely deserving of 5 stars, however, it took the game a while to reach at that point. Giving it a 5 now that it's reached that point as I think the 3.5 score makes it underrated.

The game is a bit buggy, also might be because I modded it. But there were a few situations where I got stuck in the progression, like buying the book before the game asked me for it.

For the most part this game is pretty HOT, whiles navigating it is sometimes confusing and the hints aren't always clear (I am not a fan of Sandbox Exploring games with an open world for this reason).

The content with the main characters is still limited, but still there is plenty with the secondary cast. Not fan of the grindy mini-games (but the mod lets you skip this).

I think its quite promising but it still needs polish.

I liked this game so much I started supporting him om Patreon. I really like My cute room mate also.

It's a steady build up to the scenes and the scenes are long! Not just a few images like so many other games.

There is a hint system and a checklist. There are clear indicators of the status of each character and choices you make. There is a money cheat in the options menu. There is always steady progress in the game.

It's NOT a "grind game" like Foot of the mountains, Big Brother, Cure my addiction etc. when you franticly clicking and have no clue whats happening.

Top tip: Buy the "surveillance eye" from the shop it allows fast travel between rooms and allows you to see where ever character is.

There is a scene replay mod to make sure you don't miss anything.

I'm giving it a low score, game is Waaaaay to grindy, story is a bit tooo try hard, either stick to a soft core sex novel/game or just do a porn game. the mechanics are unrefined, took me a while to actually figure out that their are certain spots on an object in the back pack you have it click on to use it. Story is unrelatable in any way not even in someone's dream world or fantasy. seems like the author/writer/developer puts himself in his own fantasy and is self centered and makes himself seem a bit simpy. some annoying implemented features like the Fraud system for the roulette table, were you cant bet and after every win save, it will mark it as fraud and ban you and you cant use the roulette table for the rest of the game. certain bugs were found. I was really disappointed to the point that when I got to the first sex scene all the drive and excitement were gone and the fun enjoyment was gone, was just to furious at the game.
Story; 3/10 just wasn't into it. to much grinding. seemed like al the characters were secret closet sluts.
Mechanics: 1/10 implemented features were annoying and really infuriating. The hint/Guide option was useless and at times misleading
Models and animation: 8/10
sex scenes: 1/10 was to annoyed and didnt want to finish game by the time i got to my first scene. maybe they are good but im not gonna grind hours to get to it, ill let you do that for me.
over all id give it a 4/10 but because of the roulette table fraud implementation and the annoying constant buggy saves and clicking tools in back pack crap and bad hint/guide system im giving it a solid 3/10, would give it much lower but im having hopes for this game, the animations were good and im assuming the sex scenes are good but again, im not grinding to find out.

Wow, this game has a ton of 5 star reviews - different people with different taste, I guess -fair enough.

For me, however, this game is a disaster. Or rather a tragedy.
Because I feel the artwork, definately the games strong suit, is pleasing to the eye,sometimes even very good, the characters look appealing (some have slightly exaggerated shapes, but not as much for it to be distracting) and each and everyone of them deserves to be featured in a better game.
There are even animation - I don't care as much for those as many others do, but they're here, and not half bad either.

But the gameplay. Oh boy, the gameplay.
Some people really like sandboxes . But in my opinion, most sandboxes end up in one of two camps.
Either they feature a ton of content that basically exists in isolation and doesn't affect other content or the progress in other storylines even if it clearly should, or they have so little content that the sandbox part has little effect and lining up the story in VN format would make much more sense.

Girl House falls squarely into the second camp.
The free roam in the house is nothing but annoying, with you constantly having to click on arrows to move from this room to the other and back again. There's never much to do, in many if not most situations you have to do one specific thing to unlock the next stretch of storyline, which nets you one or a small number of new scenes before your progress is blocked by the next specific thing.
The storyline is nothing to write home about, we've seen these tropes a hundred times, and one of the very early quests helpfully offers the hint: "Cannot be completed in current version". Always a classic.

There's a number of annoying minigames which thankfully have a built-in skip function.

The initial design of the game appears to have been intended to star the MC as the long lost son or somesuch, but the climate on Patreon appearently prompted a (understandable) change of hearts, so now you are playing a guy that looks like the siamese twin of the lost son, but nobody ever comments on that fact.

What remains is a run-of-the-mill corruption story, which isn't terrible, but not worth the hours of grinding - even if the grinding isn't as terrible here as in some other titles.

IF you "fall in love" with the artwork, download the cheat mod and fly through the story, otherwise I'd recommend skipping this wholesale.

absolutely love this game. a bit of a grind in early versions but he's worked hard to make the game flow better and is still improving.
Graphics are top notch. Girls are hot, story flows well.
Its getting better as it goes on.

This game is fantastic. The renders/art are awesome. The occasional animations of characters is really fun (especially Mai...wowww!) Unlike other ren'py creations where it's just a virtual novel the whole way through and you have to sit through a bunch of long drawn out text before seeing anything of interest, Girl House is an actual game where your decisions matter, and each choice can have a positive or negative effect. You also have to figure out what tasks you must complete to get to the next step, and do a lot of talking, walking, and learning, which keeps it interesting. Objects are sometimes difficult to find, which it makes nicely challenging. The angel and demon characters are a really nice touch, offering fun perspectives of each scenario. The game isn't overly difficult, but it's not necessarily "too easy" either, and the hints are very helpful. Definitely one of my favorites and I look forward to supporting its completion.

This by far the Best game i've played in a long time! It has the best looking modals i've seen! Animations are Superb! Possibly the one slight drawback! is the MC! he looks weird And the lack of a chin is somewhat off putting! That been said! Who cares LOL As long as the Babes are as gorgeous as they are That's what counts!

The story is rather light and the game is quite simple with the help included but the characters are super well done and the animations are excellent with the possibility of choosing between different angles of view. There are games where the story is long and where H-scenes are desperately awaited, here the story is not very developed but the H-scenes are fairly regular and hot as hell.

Review:
It's not the first but the second time that I try to play this game and to the great surprise, the game is still bad. There are many things in this game that are quite annoying, such as the flashback that the MC has, it happens occasionally after a conversation or some scene. Nobody wants to watch this scene repeat itself, it seems that the game was made by some teenager who thinks this is funny and will make someone laugh, because I don't know the reason for the repetition of the scene of the MC accident.
History:
The story is confusing, it is honestly not going to please you very much. There is no depth to the script, let alone an interest in trying to keep up.
However, there are things that you would say don't make sense, like the fact that the MC is very similar to Vanessa's deceased son, that he has an angel and a demon speaking in his mind, and that everyone in the house sees you and treats you like if he never saw you in his life. The MC is in a car accident and a girl very much like Vicky was with him, the MC runs away from the hospital for fear of being caught by the police investigator, when Vanessa welcomes you to her home, you cannot leave the house afraid of the investigator, there are so many no sense things that you lose interest.
Gameplay:
The gameplay tries to look good but it isn't. The clock ticks by the minutes, that's good, but at the same time bad. But why bad? for the simple fact that the interface is not so organized, because it is often horrible to have to manage the time in this game, not that it is something so complicated, but it is a bit boring. It is boring to have to keep clicking between the rooms in the house, in the previous game it was even a little better, but in this one, there are many rooms and few actions, you know? Not to mention that tasks are often boring to do, and the tips system does not help much. But then, in summary, the gameplay of this game is that you have to keep repeating until triggering a task to advance in the story. There are not many interactions and actions with the characters.
Sexual Content:
The game has good renderings of the female character models, the animations are also good, but when it comes to sexual content, it is disappointing. You need to grind to see some scenes a little, how can I say, disappointing. There are some good scenes, however, the others could be much better. Anyway, it is a waste of time.

Why I did gave 1 star?
The reason for giving this rating was not only for the history of the game, but for the annoying gameplay, the grind, some bugs, and the sexual content looks pretty silly. I know it may seem unfair, after all, the game has good renderings and animations, but think how boring it is to play something where everything goes slowly. You don't see a constructive relationship with the characters, you see a slutty girl, another who is a slut and one who is innocent wanting to be a slut. Cool, it looks great, but it looks like the game is blue balls, you have some interesting scenes (like Lola's), and others not much. Anyway, the previous game was much better because there were small fetishes, like living with your hot cousin and fucking with her, though, and in this game? if it continues slowly as it is, it will be a waste of time.

It is my first negative review as I prefer not to do that but such a waste of beautiful models. The dev has real talent in creating very beautiful characters and really erotic scenes but the game play is terrible making his games not a pleasant experience. The same disadvantages as his previous game "my cute roommate". Personally I can not play his games and I only have a look at the gallery. I understand that he has many patrons and he is pleased with the result but the market out there gets more competitive every day.

Great animations, but the game is painfully slow & boring its a grind to get anywhere in the game itself & considering your stuck inside the house due to storyline it get repetitive very quickly, there is no hint system whatsoever other than some vague objective that is not fully detailed makes the game even more of a chore to play through, which is a shame when the renders are done so well, but if the gameplay isn't interesting then the game is no fun

It gets the job done, I just wonder how much more content there's gonna be. Models are pretty hot, animations are decent, scenes are somewhat believable which is a plus. Hoping for more content in the future!

Artwork - easily the best thing about this game. It looks fantastic

Writing - I imagine it's translation issues, but this stuff gets real bad. That said, the developer comes up with some interesting scenes and set pieces. For me it gets a laugh from time to time but doesn't ruin the immersion

Gameplay - standard point-and-click with a house to explore. Nothing revolutionary but it's done alright. There's a constantly advancing time mechanic that's more annoying than interesting, but luckily you can switch it off.

Pacing - if you use the hints the pacing is solid. I never felt frustrated at the slow progress. That said the game gives the impression of having a lot more content than it actually does so far. You might find yourself at the end saying, "that's it?"

I'd probably skip an update or two in-between check-ins on this game.
