It's to STOP the leaks the first couple of days to first week of release, this has been detailed like 8 plus months ago when this first started and came to light...his Patreon's asked for it.

It SAYS right on his Patreon about the 30-day waiting period before signing up, but the release will be free in 30 days, and says it's your choice, and only wants you to sub if you want to help the game succeed.
