That’s not the problem, because if we followed your line of thinking, we’d never finish any kind of project. The real issue, I suppose, is that this isn’t his actual job. He probably has a real job, and this is just a hobby that started making money — and now he sees that he keeps earning without putting in much effort. So he’ll drag it out as long as he can, never actually finish the game, and still benefit without investing much time.
Your expectations are fucking insane if you think every developer should start treating these project like 9-5s when they have actual jobs they need to do. Also, I don’t know how you look at the guys last update where he rendered an animation for every breast size Dottie could have and gauge his effort as too low. The guy puts in the work imo, he’s just putting in way too much all at once.

The hot take for this game is that you can’t make a billion fucking paths and expect to release sizable updates in a reasonable time frame. The first 3 updates were quicker than this because all the dev had was essentially the main story and a handful content scene per route for the characters (linear progression). The progress is most likely stuck because they have too many options to account for. Molly’s created a balloon that’s gonna burst at some point if he can’t find a better workflow.
Yea I think this is the issue for a lot of devs. They get way too ambitious with their first game, when they don't have the resources to work on it full time.
Dude is clearly not lazy, the last update alone was insane with all the scenes for the different breast sizes for Dottie. It's just way too much work for just one guy.
At this point it's just really hard for me to believe that this game will be finished. I think the dev will just burn himself out.

Agreed for the most part, mate.

There's talent and taste, plus the desire to commit to numerous kinks. All admirable but burdening when you don't 'fulltime' it or have a good amount of help.

He's a bit better now in terms of communication and providing more frequent updates though, doesn't make too many farfetched statements like before too.

I guess the thing that we genuinely find annoying is his fixation on the piracy thing and his intent on putting a lid on it with punishments and stuff, as well as spending extra time coding tripwires into games that will be bypassed eventually anyway.

It's his product and he has a right to his own publishing strategy, but from purely marketing/sales points it doesn't endear him to the potential donators.

Tbh I just hope he maybe gets some help in development, thought a bit questionable considering his issue with the initial co-creator. He should definitely get a bunch of hardware upgrades for faster rendering tho, and those are a bit hefty.

Personally, depending on this update's contents I might sub to him.

For now tho we're just..

Question and at the same time I would like an honest answer, what do you think is it worth supporting the creator on patreon where the last update of this game was 6 months ago? the game is cool, I liked it, but this news seems to me that the developer is slowly closing the project.

Kinda on the fence myself, mate.

On one side he has a questionable background, slow updates and a very lackadaisical temperament.

But on the other hand, this appears to be a side-project of his that he needs proper returns on to focus full-time. The product is obviously great (quality of renders, variety of content, atmosphere etc.) but is in slow development.

I'd sub at a low to mid tier maybe for now.. depends on how this upcoming one shapes out.

Yea that whole thing with trying to prevent the game from being pirated probably did more harm to him than good. Even AAA studios aren't able to prevent people from pirating their games, I don't know why he thinks he will be the one that is able to do it. But like you said it's his game, he can do whatever he wants.

Yeap, there's no incentive for new subscribers. They still have to wait an unreasonable amount of time to get the new update. Successful devs have a couple things in common:

* Regular communication
* Timely updates

The piracy will happen regardless, but building up a solid subscriber base will also happen because of people who are exposed to the game and enjoy it.

tbf he was getting better at the regular communication part, with biweekly posts. I assume it’s broken up now as he’s back to his usual pre-release workflow of “zero comms in the final stretch”. But yeah, I hope that regardless of what happens post-release he can remove the 30 day rule, it would be better for him. I don’t know where but ik there’s tons of people who find these games outside of f95 and then sub.
