Others - Goodbye Eternity [v0.9.1] [RNGeusEX]

It's an excellent game. I used Summertime Saga as a reference for this type of game, which, in my opinion, is one of the best eroge out there. After playing Goodbye Eternity, I believe it's a game with a lot of quality and content, just like Summertime Saga. It has good animation and good characters. Maybe the pacing is a bit too fast compared to Summertime Saga, but that doesn't make it bad.

Goodbye Eternity (Formally known as Extra Life) is The Last Of Us Part 2 of adult games.
Or in layman's terms: The best worst game I have ever played- and that's saying something.

Also since I am writing this shit at work I will not go into too many details, but we will see about that.

The premise:
You, as if the player character, is a loser nearing his middle age.
But somehow managed to pull an 18 Again and got his continuousness transport back to when he was just of age, with his stepmom (I assume) and not blood-related sister, because of course, this is an adult game.
Knowing how their future will end up, you decide to change it- for good or worse.

The Gameplay:
It is point-and-click most of the time, unless the story happens, in which case it is in VN format.
Mostly about going places on the map, and finding stuff that the character wanted to advance the plot, it works fine.
There are a fair share of "actually matter" choices, which is a plus compared to a lot of games in this genre-
but they don't actually matter enough, sadly.
It changes how some plot points happen- but...let's just say that another 1-star review by Reco cover eh has a point: Although you can change how some things happen, the overall choices have this Terminator-level "ultimately X will happen" level bullshit- more on that later.

The Artstyle:
I mean, it is good. Just look at the title pic.
The story is set in Japan, and it sure got that grounded but still anime feeling nailed down.
If anything my only complaint is despite how varied the sex scenes are, they kind of lack description in comparison to the vast majority of adult games where is all words under 1 CG, this one is a bunch of CGs and a bit fewer words.

Granted, that is not why I give this game the worst rating I ever give- assuming anyone gives a shit about his random jackass's opinion.

The Story:
Remember I call this game "The Last of Us Part 2" of adult games?
Well, it is because the writing fucking reeks.
Like it has a good art style, and good gameplay (by adult VN standards) but the story is just like someone taking a shit on a wedding cake that is the other non-story element of this game.
No offense to the writer- assuming they even read a review from some nobody, but fucking hell what is your problem?

The protag is just the punching bag of this universe, everyone who is not a potential romance option either acts weird, is a rude cunt, or will eventually become a rude cunt to him.
Like based on impression I assume the protag is just some loner who never gets laid or has many friends because he keeps his mouth quiet and prefers to be alone- but somehow, everyone decides this is a prime real estate to be an absolute fucking twat.
This is supposed to be set in Japan right? The land where the social norm is conformity to the masses- why is everyone either weirdos or such rude assholes?
Everyone that is not on the shagging list that is.

Granted, I am aware bullying is also a problem that exists in Japan- but I will say more than half of the bullshit that happens in this game can not only be filed under "bullying/being a cunt" they can also be filed under "crime", and somehow no one thinks of getting the laws involved.
Not to mention, this is Japan, a country with the lowest crime rate.
I am almost sure if you run to the cops when some random thug is trying to beat you, they will gladly do something about it.


Oh and remember when I say " the overall choices have this Terminator-level 'ultimately X will happen' level bullshit" well here is the thing:
The prime example is your stepmum: Despite all the "choices that matter" I mention above, I am almost sure there is no way to stop her from getting into either blackmail or drug rape with the most stereotypical fat bastard character ever- like why?
The original fuck up timeline your protag wants to change is one of her working herself to death- and somehow, your involvement just makes this shit like 10 times worse.
Sure, you eventually stop it from happening- but still.

Yes, I am aware there are millions of counter-arguments fans of this game can stick on my face and call me a retard for not getting it- but here is a thing:
Granted, chess club member Todd Howard once mentioned something that goes like this: Knowing you are the underdog that eventually rises up and wins is more satisfying.

Except, fuck no.
The amount of cunts in this game who constantly give me shit throughout the entire process just makes it numb- is like you got beaten to half death, but at the brink of your life, someone throws you a gun and you capped all the mfs that beat you- sure some will say this shit is satisfying, but you are still beaten to a pulp, and those guys get to take the easy way out.

Shout out to that guy in the park tho.
In this world that should have been fucking nuked, he is chill asf- along with all the girls.
Yeah I should also mention the girls are mostly fine- is just in your process to do the standard adult game thing, you just got so much shit thrown at you and so many jackasses you have to deal with, it is not really worth it anymore.

Oh and finally, guy who has a ramen shop and a daughter who is probably crazy (Never get to that point before I quit):
You are also semi-decent, if not for the fact you cooked fucking toilet ramen and expect me to eat- if this is real life, I will get your fucking store shut down from health hazards and maltreatment of workers, dipshit.
Remember, this is Japan, they take this shit seriously.
Maybe then I can blackmail her daughter and be the bastard myself.

TL;DR:
Goodybe Eternity is a game with a great art style, and good gameplay, but the story fucking sucks.

In the end, this is just my opinion anyway:
I am aware the review below this one has this legendary quote: "if you got such an issue with a game teasing NTR, then play something else and don't give it a bad rating because of it. You don't go hating on Call of Duty because you cannot barter with cock-nosed villagers, do you?"

Well, yes, you are right- I have stop playing it.
This review is purely based on what I played back in early 2023, because no thanks, I am good.
For me, the ending of this game is I get with my stepmum and we have sex every day, the end.
Fuck everyone and everything else.

But I am still going to give it a bad rating not because I am not a fan of NTR, but because everyone in this game the protag can't shag act like cunts.
Plus let's face it, is not like what I write here even fucking matters when the average rating of this game is already 3.42 stars with 202 reviews, so take it or leave it I guess.

Story: 3/5, Enough to keep me interested.
Art/ animation: 5/5, Very good and what drew me to play.
Smut/ Sex scenes: 2/5, far too short and little build-up to set the mood. While the art is fantastic, it suffers from what most animated works do. They focus purely on making the animation good and then add very little dialogue making the scene lack lustre and making the reader/ viewer use their imagination.

Considering that the game is currently going through a complete revamp due to switching engines, my rating will be based on the potential of the game.

For someone's (supposedly) first game this is incredible. Spine animations are great, the art is superb, game UI is solid for a porn game (even if it wasn't it would be).
Many features, especially QoL ones, have been taken over from RenPy which I appreciate. I don't know if the GoDot community already worked on a RenPy library that made it easier to emulate the engine or if the developer made the effort to write their own. Regardless, it's nice.

Story is a bit meh and could use some work but it's good enough and the rest makes up for it.
At least if you're not one of the many individuals who like to complain about a game that wasn't even catered toward their demographic.

I'm not particularly into NTR but I'm not gonna complain because honestly, if you got such an issue with a game teasing NTR, then play something else and don't give it a bad rating because of it. You don't go hating on Call of Duty because you cannot barter with cock-nosed villagers, do you?
Anyway, I like to replay these games and go through (NTR) routes just to see what I've missed out on.
As long as the player has the freedom to choose the plot development (e.g., a route not featuring NTR) for their "main playthrough", I'll be rather satisfied. That's something any sandbox adult game should allow imo.

4/5 | Currently it's buggy as heck due to the engine change. Hopefully the new update fill improve things and my rating is based on the assumption that it will. Looking forward to more.

It definitely has 5/5 potential if the story improves. I still go "Uh, that's a bit cliché." from time to time, and things are a bit too obvious. Most choices the player is given are actually a placebo. Would like to see more influence on the story development.

Perhaps I'm asking too much from a porn game, but seeing how good it is and how much work has been put into it I would love to see it go all the way.

Love the animation and the story, it was definitely made by someone with a vision and there is a lot of details. It is a bit railroaded right now with not much to do of your time and money, but it is so promising, I hope to see more soon.

Yes lets design a harem game and reach that target audience then mid way through lets force the mc to destroy everything. Because some random individual thats apparently omniscient. Who then restricts your movement and forces you into an even more linear story than it already was. Which immediately killed all my immersion and interest in the game.

The art is very good. The artist carried this project extremely hard. 100% props to the artist and 0% for the story writing and plot.

Super surprised by how low this game is rated. It's not perfect, but for the quality of art and animations alone, this game deserves WAY more credit than 99% of adult games out there.

In the low reviewers defense, I will certainly agree that the game can be a bit annoying with the clicking all over the map and trying to get certain things to line up story wise (e.g. you worked enough days at the ramen shop, but your stamina is too low from your workouts, so you have to grind that once a day for another week or something).

As far as people not liking Noriko or not enjoying the very Japanese themes of blackmailing, mafia influences, and potentially unhinged romantic relationships compared to western norms, that is all personal preference, but I don't think any of it was done poorly. I actually thought Noriko was one of the best parts of the game haha it depends what route you play though.

Ultimately if you think the art looks interesting. I'd say it's definitely worth checking out. If you aren't enjoying the story, just move on. I've regreted many many games but I find it hard for people to truly regret checking this one out if you appreciate good art (backgrounds, animation, writing, etc.)

The story is really bad. Why is the storyline always borderline ntr (It not ntr but it always make you think you getting cuck). At least the animation and music is good. The character in my opinion there are only 2 of them that i like the rest are unlikeable especially the sister (this the part i stop playing because of stupid the plot is).

The art is good, though it seems hollow for me. The story is questionable but i personally hate it

Ok it is a incomplete game so i'm giving a 3 stars but it might end as a 4 star depending on how the dev finish this game since i can see the potential in it, i played the 0.8.1 version because the 0.9.1 didn't work on my pc and it seens like many people got a similar problem.

So to the actual review with good and bad sides of the game:

1. Art is good, although animations could have been better i have nothing to complain about the art it is truly refreshing to see.

2. Story is intriguing, it is incomplete but it does makes me anxious to know what might happen next since it got a really serious thing going on.

3. linear gameplay, i feel like we don't play much since the only gameplay are in a few choiches that can change the story (only a little bit) but i think that a few more interactons between the story would be great there were times that i could do nothing other than sleep in the day, maybe a affection system that many games got would be good here or just more interactions in general.

Story is pretty good i liked it, but it gets ruined by the lack of choices, like mother you can corrupt or love route in other words game has forced LIs you cant reject her and those lack of choices only becomes worse as game goes on, if it wasent a sandbox i would say its close to being a kinetic novel but since t is i got to call it extremly linear.
I did everything i could to avoid the mother/son sex but its impossible, you cant progress without doing her questline, its make it even more awfull that you have a girlfriend you love and the mother knows your with her yet she stlll pushes MC to have sex and yes it can get worse the GF now accepts MC fucking hes own mother, story just dosent make any kind of sense anymore, i cant belive this has such a high rating with such a shitty story and lack of controle.

This game would have been so much better with meaningfull choices.
but instend they either dont matter or they are even fake choices which is even worse, click untie a dude you hate or not untie him and game says you cant do that, so your now forced to untie someone you hate, then a girl you hate will be part of your harem, when you want nothing to do with her, devs dropped the ball to the extreem on this part and kills the story.

Then your forced to fuck your sister and forced to forgive her ass on top of it, MC is submissive and has 0 backbone, how i wish they tried to make a real game since i loved the art.

Then theres the crashes where game closes down out of nowhere, that sure as fuck dosent help the game.

Animations and are are great and they are the only reason i give this 2 stars instend of 1.

Interface is garbage, scroll back fucks up scenes, no instant text and even at max speed its slow making it another pointless time waste waiting on text to show.

Played through the 0.9.1 build on android and devoured it in one sitting, story has some nice twists and turns and is generally above the usual porn game backstory i've seen, the art, character design and animations are fantastic.
Only critique would be that the overworld map was rather hard to open and navigate on android as for some reason tapping the screen makes a cursor show up, which usually starts in the middle of the screen making you return home and in other times starts at roughly the last position i clicked.

Overall 5/5 and highly recommend to play

The intro of the game was good, but that was it. Everything is just false sense of options.

The Bad Parts:
-Seems like the writer doesn't know where the story should head
-The "choices" don't have impact, the story always ended up the same no matter what the player choose:

• the funniest part I have seen in this game is when MC and Akira were tied up in Sakuya's room, player was given two choices, "Untie Akira" or "Ignore Akira", but player only allowed to choose "Untie Akira", the game just keeps yelling at player if player choose the other option. Doesn't matter if you choose to friendzone Asami or not, she's gonna end up in MC 's little harem
• The game keeps telling player what to do, do this , do that, not this , not that. Player doesn't have control in everything in this game.
• Why bother making a world map to waste player's time if every single event is just gonna be forced onto player, it's just making the player click few more times for some events that's going to happen nonetheless. The trainings serve no purpose at all. Remove the world map and the training from the game, and the story is going to play just the same.

I was looking for a game with anime-like art and came across this as a recomendation. Super beautiful animation and renders. One of the best adult games out right now. Great flowing story with believable characters and unique art style.

Decent premise with good art. But the crashing is extremely irritating. I'm not sure how other people are not experiencing this issue (maybe it's only when you skip text?) but it makes it borderline unplayable. Hopefully the dev fixes it in the next update.

I am not sure about all the negative reviews. I played through the v0.9.1 version and had no crashes. Going into the Gallery viewer was a little buggy, but reoping from the main menu fixed that.

It is a relative linear story, sort of Isekai of reliving your life and 'improving' it. Yes, some choices do not particulary give much difference in the plot (e.g. Femdom), but there are some variations left and right. With v0.9.1 the plot does not yet end and there is still quite some mystery, I am very interested how this will continue.

There are many intriguing and well rounded characters, ranging from Tsundere to Yandere and ofcourse the mandatary lovable mother ;-) hell we even got a Macho and an Ugly Bastard. The story is well paced and there is little to no grind (money has not really played a role). All the 2DCG is very well done and gives some spicy scenes, I particulary loved the Noriko scenes.
Personally, I would not mind some more teasing , NTR or Netorase, just to spice things up.

Definitely on my follow list and if updates come frequently, you have another Patreon. Thanks for this great game!

Quick review: Good visuals and animations, OK story, poor gameplay.

Ah and quick side tangent, this is a linear novel, not a visual novel. Choices don't really matter.

Gameplay 7/10: The game has some bugs, but nothing that affects the gameplay too much.


Art 9/10: The images speak for themselves. Beautiful milf. Beautiful art.


Animation 8/10: Animations that maintain quality from beginning to end.


Characters 9/10: Each character is unique and has good development.


Story 7/10: The game is still very incomplete, but if the developer knows how to continue the story well, it will be great.


Is it worth playing? For sure.

The game is currently (v0.9) buggy as hell, with at least one misleading route (Noriko's "femdom" route).
The presence of "NTR bait" should please neither people who want it, nor people who avoid it.
Plot is pretentious but simplistic even for a porn game.
Girls are unidimensional and boring: mum, bratty sis, childhood friend, yandere.

Easily among the best games of its kind I've ever played. I recently replayed the story following the recent engine switch, and it was yet again a great experience. The new update felt a lot smoother and, all around, more polished.

The story was captivating, though I noticed a few minor plotholes and inconsistencies. The animations were simply perfect. They were consistently of high quality throughout the game. Although many of the characters weren't necessarily very realistic, they felt personal, and you definitely grew attached to some of them.

Overall, I really enjoyed it, and I can't wait for future updates!
