Make shure to have part 1 and part 2 in different folders, (also different patches and mods for each ver.) your prefereces will be exported if you save when you're asked in ver 1 (pro tip, before starting ver 2 delete all saves exept the one you were asked to make to export)

There's absolutely no reason for you to trust any one of us idjits more than the dev who uploaded it, but if for some bizarre reason you do... Plenty of people have played the newest version and you're the first person to flag it as maybe a virus, add in that ren'py games false positive all the time all across these forums, and you're probably good to go... Or the dev whose job it is to make this game uploaded a version that's only a virus for you, and no one else, but he did such a bad job that your virus scan still caught it.
I wouldn't trust me though.

who is it? specifically, what antivirus program.
when you get such a case you should run it through a meta analysis program that submits the file to every single anti virus program out there.
virustotal.com is generally a favored site to use.
based on how many anti virus programs flag it, and what they flag it for, you can easily dismiss some false positives. (eg: If only 1 program in the entire world thinks it is a virus it is false positive.)
