The saves are broken again, the save in slot 1 has disappeared (all other save slots are there). This is starting to feel like EA has made this VN and screwed it up. If you can't keep saves from version to version then at least give us a way to define the variables ourselves so we don't have to skip through every previous episode just to get back to where we were.

No they are not broken. If you can't get them to work it's a you problem. Do it again and do it right.

According to the change log (it's in the OP) we're at day 119.

But there's a few lines in the Script for Part 3 that confuse things a bit:

"The next morning."-I list this as Day 97

"You lay there for hours as Tanya and Anne sleep in your arms."

This is suitable for those who do not understand "how to save and why save does not work"

For people having issues with v5 saves try this,

The fix that worked for me was to copy the saves from appdata/renpy persistent saves found for example in drive eg
c:\Users\'your account'\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\GrandmasHouse-numbers\
into the "new version 5"\game\saves\ folder. It wont exist in new install unless you either open game (then close it) or create a new folder and call it saves within the game folder

Now, the problem is that I have done as instructed on said image, but it does not work. Re-downloading the part 5 update two times also has not fixed the bug. I can understand your frustration with people being unable to do a "simple thing," but regardless, people are having issues.

That pic is the end of every update. The "save now" is only there in the last update for every part

Then, it means you skipped one update, that's the last update of Part 4. The SAVE NOW! is the last update of every part.

It is not a bug, it is user error.
That is not the SAVE NOW screen people are referring to. It doesn't say SAVE NOW anywhere on it, so it's a bit puzzling how you got it confused.
As it clearly states, "You've reached the end of the update".
That is simply the end of an update, not the end of a whole Part.

The SAVE NOW screen people are referring to only occurs at the end of each Part, so v0.16 has one for the end of Part 1, v0.37 has one for the end of Part 2, v0.53 has one for the end of Part 3 & v0.68 has one for the end of Part 4.
It is a black screen with no images, just large white letters literally saying "SAVE NOW".

This is definitely one of those moments where we need the face-palm emoji. But like others said, you possibly did not download the latest version of the part you are on yet, so it's no wonder you didn't get the aforementioned "SAVE NOW" screen. I'm trying not to be a dick here, but even someone like me with a social disability was able to understand how GH's updates and save moments work after just one mistake from a long time ago.

If you've been through a whole part already then you should know when this exact screen shows up the part you are on isn't finished yet so there is no need for switching to another part as it doesn't exist yet. But like others said, you possibly did not download the latest version of the part you are on yet, so it's no wonder you didn't get the aforementioned "SAVE NOW" screen. What did you expect? You started it with saying the game has a bug when it clearly hasn't. And it was said now hundrets of times (if not already more) that the end of a game part is when the "Save Now" screen appears and you have to do the save exactly there. It gets quite frustrating that even such simple things have to be told again and again.
