I haven't heard from anyone having problem with their Saves if they followed Instructions correctly.
The only Save that will work is the one made on the BIG FAT "SAVE NOW" Screen. Did you save there?

YES, I saved there on Windows, moved the files to Linux, and now get renpy crashes from every save including the automatic ones, just like it happened back when I wanted to play *the* update with Nana, which I managed to do in the end because I had an incentive. That's no longer the case, so I just deleted the blasted thing. I don't care really, as I said I had my fun already. Thank you anyway.

Like HornyyPussy said, you can put anything there, you don't get asked to confirm if it's valid or not.
That requirement is there because it's a private tracker, so that the .torrent files can't be shared on other trackers. So actualy it wouldn't be more useful because this way you can be sure the torrent points to an existing file. Otherwise .torrent files to older versions would keep popping up on whichever tracker and never download anything coz they'd be dead. Read more about this

BTW "my" problem is totally unrelated to Linux, the game itself is broken. I'm moving saves to Linux whenever a nice game I played on Windows is updated and it's only GH that is borked. Heritage, Desert Stalker, My Bimbo Dream... everything works when the developer does things right, saves are theoretically platform independent anyway.
