Opinions are subjective. Facts are universal.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. No-one is entitled to their own facts.
It very much matters how we present information.
If we say "Asami is the most annoying forced character in this game", then it is presented as a statement of incontrovertible fact.
Whereas, if we say "Asami can be one of the most annoying characters in this game for me", then it is presented as a personal opinion.
There is a vast difference.
Now that the post has been edited to present it as an opinion, it's not doing anything wrong.
But the post as FatGiant & MAGO-DAG responded to it, prior to being edited, was presented as a fact, not an opinion.
As such, it deserved the responses it received.

It is, in the opinion of several of you, warranted to come here and state that one character is this or that. But, at the same time it isn't alright to state that said opinion deserves a critique.
If you want the right to say whatever you want about whomever you want, you automatically give everyone the right to have an opinion on what you say.
This translates to: Your Liberty ENDS where mine begins.
You are absolutely free to say whatever you want, BUT, so am I.
In my opinion, saying that Asami, in this case, is annoying, is in fact stupid and VERY annoying. You may agree, disagree, or be indifferent. But if they want the right to say what they want, I also have the same right.
And, you are perfectly fine in not liking what I say. I am NOT running a competition here.
Someone accuses me of calling someone childish, when in fact that is a response to the same attack by someone else, you see, a person that wasn't capable of facing the fact that their opinion was criticized, had to resort to personal attacks. What I criticized was the opinion, not the person.
The venom spewed, wasn't on the original post but on the childish reply. Get over yourselves, really.
I still maintain that coming here, to state, out of the blue, that this character or that one, is annoying, is IN FACT, annoying to those that read this thread everyday. That type of opinion doesn't provide ANY value whatsoever. It is nothing but a manifestation of Ego, with zero result.
If, instead, that user chose to write a list of what makes Asami annoying to him/her/them, I could maybe respect the opinion as something. Stating as a FACT, with no arguments is annoying as all hell and deserves no respect. Period.

Love this way of phrasing this. I have had a number of exchanges in real life along these lines with people who don't seem to understand that they have a right to say what they want but they don't have a right of immunity from criticism. These people irritate me greatly. I don't know the context for this post but i'm with you on this.

Return criticism would have been one thing, personal insults are entirely another. They/we could have done without the insults - it happens all too frequently on many different threads.
The masterclass on how to put someone in their place, uses simple logic and a complete absence of insults. Unfortunately it didn't go that way this time. We all know the poster was voicing their opinion, some chose to think otherwise. It is what it is.

Criticism isn't calling a person stupid, childish, annoying, and shaming them for voicing the opinion. No one is saying someone can't disagree with OP, but leveling ad hominem attacks isn't criticism. That's an emotional, insecure, and abusive response directed at the person, not the opinion.
Why does OP find Asami annoying? Who knows? No one bothered to ask him. Maybe he doesn't like submissive women, maybe he doesn't like closet perverts. Again, we don't know. The fact remains that OP is well within bounds to have a negative opinion about a fictional character in a porn game and share it in the thread.

I dont know what you're coming at me for. I have made no insults at anyone, and specifically said in my post I don't know the context of FatGiant's response. I personally didn't, and still don't care about whatever drama or argument was happening in here, but I agreed with the fundamental point he was making, free speech does not mean immune to criticism of any kind. Everyone else also has free speech.

I'm not coming at you, I'm responding to you. Like you said, free speech doesn't mean immunity from criticism. I don't think anyone has said someone can't respond or criticize the OP. However, if the response is strident, overly harsh, or insulting, then that response may garner its own criticism. Which, in this case, it has. That's not a threat to liberty, but it is a threat to cry bullies.
Anyway, mods are starting to clean up the thread, so I'll leave it at that.
