It kinda died out in the 80's. Last time I heard someone use the term was in 1995, listening to a good ol' Louisiana boy explain why he used certain racial terms for white and black people to call them assholes. I asked him "Why beat around the bush. Just them assholes." You could see the lights turn on in his head for the first time.
