Ehy guys, a quick question. Is the MC a goody two shoes? Nothing against morally upstanding protagonists, but I'm the mood for something greyer rn.

There is definitely a variation. You can check out the tags for reference.

Sorry if this is stupid or answered elsewhere... I usually run Linux Mint and see this is pro-linux, but how do I run it?
I tried to dual boot in win11 to run it but it was throwing an error. I'm sure I'm overlooking something really obvious here...Thanks :)

The Linux version is not actively supported. So what you do is you run the windows version using (like you said) windows boot or software like wine or a virtual machine.
I'm not sure what kind of error you encountered. Was this error with boot, windows, or within the app itself?

Apologies for not sharing earlier, here's the error, thrown upon alt-clicking the .exe and then clicking Open.

I think this is a problem with either

It could be due to a long path to the main file or inappropriate characters in the file path.
or
Reinstalling/ installing Microsoft vc-redist.

Since I assume you don't use the windows often, you probably miss the redistributable. Usually, people don't have to do this because the software like browsers or other steam games downloads and installs it for you in the background. Once you have it installed it works on the system globally.
You can download them from Microsoft websites. Don't forget to restart your PC after that.

Your assumption was correct. Windows is a hellscape of misery... Regardless, it must be used.
I am putting my chips on the 2nd guess. All my Steam games I play in Linux. Thanks for the help! I'll try the vc-redist.

Followup:
I'm booted in win now.
Here's what I tried:
1. updating and loading steam
2. updating my drivers. I have it so visual c package is updated. there's some random fixes for a similar error which involve installing and reinstalling lots of shit and using a different .NET framework and i'm not going to do that. my days of troubleshooting this os are quite over.
3. it looks fun but i guess i'll wait till it fixes itself. thanks for the help!

just updating steam will not install those components
I have no idea what drivers you have updated but graphics drivers also will not install those components

thanks for the interest

Thank you. You needn't have put the effort in; it would be rude of me not to follow up and try. I'll install the noted package and come back w/ results.

upd: LOL. It told me that another version was already installed. I checked my installs, and they were older versions, which means it's too stupid to update on its own. I *just started* to fiddle and troubleshoot, but as I said, my days of trying to fix Windows are over. A former M$ employee, I am rather spiritual about this. I realize many people think this is crazy, and I'm okay with that.
Linux forever.

Thanks again for your help, it shall be remembered.

That's not the case, different games need different versions of VC Redist. Don't ask me why, but I do have different versions on my PC, too (and I'm not only playing porn games, so when I install an older game, it needs an older version of this VC Redist. In the meantime I seem to have every version of these).
