Nothing is incorrect how you are doing it. If you are kind of person who must need to check out the AVN ASAP when it get release, nothing is wrong about that. However if you are kind of person who is patience and wait a few releases and check it out, more power to you.
There is an AVN I been waiting for complete episode update release since fall 2023. That AVN has number of small fraction of the episode releases, since I am not a huge fan of fraction of the chapter or episode, I decided to wait. However there is other AVNs, I do check out as soon it get release by few days after it get released.
I usually check the history a little and then look at the last "save" I have and debate if I want to check it out or wait. Most of the time, I wait for 5 or so release to check this AVN out. To me, the good part this dev been releasing often like every month or two even it may be a short run for most people. I kind of enjoyed the AVN story. The last update I had check was version 0.43, I may wait until version 0.50 get release.

the animation for "images/Scene3205.webm" causes crash for me even on PC/Win10, with RTX 2070 8GB VRAM, and 16GB RAM, and Intel i7-10750H CPU...
I had no issues in the latest game update, and my PC is quite old. Maybe that file is corrupted/broken?

removing , loops=15 gets rid of the crash making it only play once. 15 loops of a ~1.1mb webm loaded all at once seems to crash the rimpy engine for me. almost wonder if a single 30 second webm cut of the scene would be better that flooding memory with 15*2second loop
edit
just found out why the webm's are so chunky they're at 3840x2160 (AKA approximate 4k) when everything else in game is 1920x1080

ffmpeg -i Scene3205.webm -vf "scale=1920:1080" -r 30 -c:v libvpx-vp9 Scene3205_new.webm
and if you want the same quality, with less compression
ffmpeg -i Scene3205.webm -vf "scale=1920:1080" -r 30 -c:v libvpx-vp9 -b:v 4M Scene3205_new.webm

that is pure wizardry, just had to download and learn how to install ffmpeg (didn't work for me) but i was able to run it by directly referencing the exe path
"C:\ffmpeg\bin\ffmpeg.exe" -i Scene3205.webm -vf "scale=1920:1080" -r 30 -c:v libvpx-vp9 Scene3205_new.webm
