Steam is not required. Have you tried waiting for some time? The initialization scans game files, and if something (antivirus...) interferes with the process, it could take a very long time, during which the process will appear non-responsive.

Yes, I waited several minutes but to no avail.
I have added Gynocracy to my exceptions in Norton 360 and Windwos Defender, but the problem is still there.
The sad thing is, when I start the game in safe sandbox mode, the game loads immediately within a few seconds. The big problem with sandbox mode is that you can't permanently save savesgames.

I sometimes have that problem with Renpy games, but as I have more apps running at the same time I have to close those and then it runs smoothly. Sometimes restarting your computer can help also.

After hours of trial and error, I found the solution:
I had to delete all the data under “AppData\Roaming\RenPy\Gynocracy”.
Then I had to restart the game with the “Shift” key pressed and change the graphics settings, save and restart.
Now it works again. I had to test several settings after pressing Shift until it finally worked.
I don't even dare to close the game anymore, lest I have the problem again afterwards
Needless to say, I updated all the hardware and software drivers, but that had no success in getting the game to run in the intermediate steps.

, inside that folder were the individual folders of each game to delete only this one.I have also had to use the hidden "shift" a few times, these games can run in two different renderers, Open GL and ANGLE, PCs without dedicated GPU or with a very old one usually solve the lag problems using Angle2.

Strange for me: The default setting for graphics was set on Automatic. And it always worked with this setting. Why did I have to change this to make it work again, as I didn't change anything until the error occurred?
PS: I only deleted the AppData\Roaming\RenPy\Gynocracy folder, not all the others

Hello everyone! This is hopefully the last development update before the release of Chapter 10. It took a while, but the chapter is finally nearing completion. I have to admit that I learned a lot while working on this chapter, especially in terms of what NOT to do, haha. But as they say, all's well that ends well. And I'm pleased with the results, if I do say so myself.
I know some of you are very impatient by now, the anticipation is almost palpable I was really hoping to be done in April, but unfortunately that didn't happen. But I'm fairly sure that Chapter 10 will arrive in May (unless I get hit by a meteor or some other cataclysmic event). Please bear with me, we're almost there!

I'm very excited about the next update , not only because of the sneak peeks the developer is giving us , but also because the story has reached such a critical point that my head is coming up with crazy theories about how the story will unfold , so all that's left is to wait. How exciting

Am I right in thinking that '10 chapters' is the whole story/game and that we are currently anticipating the last '10th' chapter that will round off the story (hence why its taking longer to release, rounding everything off) and then what happens next, is it Gynocracy 2? or take a year off lol, do we have any knowledge that has been said about this?

After chapter 10, chapter 11 will come out. The developer's original plan was to release at least 12 chapters before the main story of Gynocracy was completed.
