An Advocacy group of loonies in Australia got payment processors to pressure most social media/nsfw art platforms and steam to drive off NSFW content and require some mandatory ID verification "for the sake of online children protection"
Given how little consequences there were regarding the matter this gave a bunch of nations a boner at the chance to further monitor people's online activity/tie their real identities with their online ones definitively under a nice disguise. the UK immediately jumped on the opportunity and enforced the ''Online safety act" requiring a mandatory ID verification on social media and a few other platforms
The US seems to be eying this opportunity as well by introducing a few legislations that would lead to the same result eventually if they pass most prominent of which is the "kids online safety act"
