Personally I always think there has to be a good story to go along with the porn. But having a lot of text and not as much porn doesn't equal good writing by default. Having "build up" just for the sake of it looks pointless and pretentious.Even if a story-driven game like this or AWAM released when it was finished, you'd still get complaints from people who don't like the fact that they have to read/skip through lots of text in order to get the sex scenes (of course, not having text would defeat the purpose of these being "Visual Novels", but don't try telling them that).
The problem is that a lot of people look at all of these as being purely "porn games" and think that they should have copious amounts of easy sex and no story, and it's unfortunate because really good, story-driven games, particularly those that try to have a grounded sense of realism in their games and build up to the sexual content, have a hard time breaking through as a result of this thought process, even though they're generally the best games out there.
The second example in your post does exactly that. Dragging scenes with dialogue and insane amount of renders dedicated into the most mundane things one can think of. Witnessing the trip of a character from the bedroom to the bathroom with a shitload of renders is not my idea of a good story. Not to mention that MC has nothing to do with realism by any definition of the word...
This one is not as bad in comparison, although it is guilty of filler content as well. At times I find myself thinking "Ok, I got what dev is trying to say with this exchange, can we move on now?" Especially when some character interactions seem to be repeating almost identical with the last time they were together in a scene.
