By burnout break I meant the breaks from the main game to make the absurd bonus scenes.
It was either making those bonus episodes or he'd have suffered a serious mental breakdown, apparently.
I've just checked his Patreon for the first time in a very long time and he seems to have more subscribers than ever before. Almost 1K. I don't know, man; maybe there are more people out there who don't know how to manage their money than we believe.

The number of subscribers has not changed much over the year, what has changed is the average earnings per patron. It seems that after the second-to-last bonus many people raised their tier.
But the graph shows that the release of the 9th bonus had almost no effect (a slight increase in April) on the number of subscribers or income. People got bored. And now he is busy releasing on Steam.
My conclusion - the game is long dead, what we see is an attempt at necromancy from the developer for the sake of making money.

You are right. It had been so long since I last checked it, that I compared his current figures with the number of subs I remembered he used to have 2 or 3 years ago, but last summer he had almost twice as many patreons after the release of the latest episode. Which means that last summer, despite the long wait and the little game progress, he did have more subs than ever before. $6k a month.

This game and JO's Hard News are both good but the devs are far too shady with the milking and making excuses. Then again, most VNs now take 6-12 months per update when 3-4 months used to be the usual (when they aren't just being thrown out there and then quickly abandoned when the money doesn't roll in fast enough).

You're going to get a deluge of different answers. Basically, the dev releases a bonus episode after every single release, these bonuses are wildly unpopular even amongst his patreons, and they take an obscene amount of time to create. No one knows the true reason as to why Az does this, though I would bet its a mix of laziness, burnout, poor planning, laziness again, and of course (as much as I hate using this term) "milking".
Officially Az said he makes the meaningless bonus episodes because of burnout, but who really knows. All I know is that I wouldnt have as much of a problem with them if they didn't take an astronomical amount of time to create.

So the dev doesnt burn out or whatever they need to relax while still working.
I see it like the warthunder (curse upon the snail) April fools events, weird and seems unnecessary but it probably contains some animations or story tests
