I feel a similar way to some extent. I'm hoping the story will dilute the gravity of the arguments as it is added to over time. Maybe the back-to-back-to-back conflict scenes will feel less centered later. It would be nice if all the bickering would at the very least become more variable and nuanced rather than just full out "Housewives of Hard To Love" style.

Summer's Gone hasn't had any real sex in four and a half chapters, but contextually, the developer wants to create thirty. Right now it feels like there's too much setup, but once one realizes how big that novel is supposed to be, the setup feels warranted. Maybe all this bitching and moaning in this VN will feel less annoying when there's a bunch more taboo scenes and some lewd group sex with more moaning and less bitching later on!

The art and presentation are fucking gorgeous though. I'm relieved this is a harem VN so I don't have to choose between any of them.

To be fair, SG is like the posterchild for "eye candy VNs with bad writing". The controversy over it has caused the fanbase to be comically defensive because it constantly gets criticism on the writing side of things and for being a porn game with no sex and flaccid edgelord MC. I feel like H2L might be going in that same direction, even if it's a bit more "weeby". Fantastic art, but completely unlikeable characters and nonsensical plot.

There are a few VNs like that where the pixel tits are the singular thing keeping people interested. Nothing wrong with that I guess, but I think good VNs stand out for having great visuals AND great storytelling. Hence visual novels. The cringier the writing gets, the more tempted I am to use that skip button to get to the "plot".

I am starting to doubt whether there is a story to begin with. The H scenes are not even worth mentioning and its with prostitutes

Its just another VN with beautiful renders wasted on awful plot and characters, especially a spineless MC who believes he is morally good after feeling up his teenage sister or kissing his mom or getting a blowjob from his sister or trying to corrupt another teen by explaining his sexcapades with prostitutes. Don't believe the reviews and ratings , you'd be better off playing the other hundreds of cest VN's where atleast you get to have some hot scenes with landlady and roommate in a garbage plot. What a waste

I don't know man... the writing isn't exactly great but it isn't exactly awful... it's just the plot being in turbo mode makes it really seem tropey imho. When the renders are that lovingly massaged, I imagine you gotta speed through the plot if you don't want $1000 electric bills.

Isabella is pretty normal from what I can tell but unfortunately for her she's super fuckable so she's at risk for being corrupted. Everybody else is dealing with some sort of mood or behavior disorder... lots of borderline, PTSD, and emotional withholding vibes... and then the Dad is a prick on top of it all.

I'm here for it lol

Also, as far as I can tell, we're not actually seeing all the Renpy notifications that we are supposed to be seeing according to the script. Like the "You did something to impress X! +2 points!"

Edit: played through the latest chapter. A very impressive game, clearly a passion project. You can see that in the numerous details that the game has. From the completely original UI to anime-style drawn character portraits in the main menu. A lot of love has gone into this, mad respect.

The writing is very solid. I appreciate the bitchy women actually, it really shows a well-known fact to anyone who has known a lot of women: they really don't like one another. Friendships are nebulous and who is in or out of a clique can change daily. As characters, they are a fair bit broken for various reasons which makes them all a fair bit bitter on top of everything. The total result is that a lot of readers can get whiplash from how different this is from the average game here. I'm talking about the ones where the MC fucks his way through the entire and nobody gives a damn. I rather love this approach, makes it feel more real.

My only complaint or rather an observation is that the MC is in a very odd spot. He lives at home, a role normally reserved for teenagers. He also has a daughter and is a cop, usually reserved for noir protags, who would handle the situations presented here in a different manner than a teenager would. He is neither here nor there, which kinda hurts the overall quality. Especially because he is entirely passive and the plot happens to him. He only reacts to things and is an observer for the entirety of the game. Again, pretty odd compared to what he is supposed to be. Perhaps in future releases, we can get some choice about actually pursuing a character and showing some initiative, that would be a nice start.

Also... god, he whines a lot. I know a good part of enjoying the incest genre is the conflict, but I swear he spent 90% of the Amber scene just bitching how they shouldn't do it. It's like every third thought of his. Of which he has a lot. Half the game I wanted to yell at him to stop being a bitch and give the women what they want and need. I hope those self-acceptance points really come into force in future updates.

Overall, great game, loved it, looking forward to more.

There wasn't a check for the variable before that scene. I also went with Amber so it didn't make much sense.

This game borderlines frustration so closely it itself is frustrating... Half the people in this are screaming dominate me, but the mc is just, dont call me sir, or when he does take control the girl is like careful let me do it. Yet they act like they want to be dominated constantly.

The mc also acts like a teenage anime echi mc, where literally everyone is throwing themselves at him and yelling fuck me now, and the mc is just like, oh what sorry didnt hear you, also sorry for accidently brushing my shoulder across your boob that one time ten years ago, i'll never let it happen again!

Mechanically also, the animations are so different to the rest of the game. The game looks amazing, the art, the visual theme, the graphics, superb. Then the animations are like.... wtf... immersion broken.

If the dev reads this by chance. I'd advise removing the animation for now, until you have had more practice. The rest o f the art is so much better quality, that i think the animation is actually detrimental to it at this point. I do look forward to seeing the game improve over time though... i just really wanted to vent!

those are optional, you can turn on and off them in options. check tutorial on the start, it says about option menu extra options, or just use stars in options menu

Indeed. Even Isabella, who acted all sweet and innocent in Ep1-4, has a couple of beers and out of the blue starts throwing a tantrum and stomping her feet like a toddler in a jelly/hate rage against her own friend.

But, I think I've figured out what's going on here. Paranoia, schizo, b-polar, whatever they are all apparently suffering from is all due to the true mastermind who's attempting to conquer the universe I suspect: the "secret ingredient" of that street vendor's ramen bowls.

As far as my opinion is concerned, this game badly needs a rewrite.
