Yeah, that is why I put it in quotes, he's not completely blank, I mean, he takes stances on things, he has opinions on stuff, but he leaves a lot of room for you to feels ways about stuff. Runey does a good job not tell you how you/he feels most of the time. That is something I feel strongly about when writing a game instead of a novel, don't tell the player how they feel or what they think about things. It is one thing to have the MC 'tell' someone that, say, they are beautiful, because you don't have to mean it, but to have them think it, that is another story entirely.I'm actually glad you said that because Runey said he doesn't want the MC to be a blank slate about a week ago. But he comes off as one so easily...a blank charecter is good for making the player feel involved. But at the same time having the charecter be too passive gives the sense that you aren't involved enough. Its a hard thing to balance.
But the point is, this game isn't really one single story, it is a collection, and he isn't the main character in each story, he is the glue that ties them all together, like a good version of the Loc Nar in the original Heavy Metal movie. There are a bunch of individual stories, some are more interconnected than others, but the one thing that they all have in common, the one things that makes them all happen, is the MC. He is the catalysis in the story, the thing that makes the actual main characters grow and adapt.
Lin holding the elf queen at gunpoint with a massive assault rifle and a red headband may or may not be one of the things I secretly want to see.
Well, here is half if it...
