I don't believe that whatever it was, was important. IIRC her being a bit upset was due to what happened in that event. And she doesn't hold a grudge so she wouldn't bring it up again.
OK, it just seemed a little out of place since the MC seems confused as to what has made her miffed. No biggie, just that when I saw it I figured there'd be follow-up.

It's cultural. And humans don't care if it's practical or not, it reminds them of who they are. This collar isn't for pulling, and is only necessary in public so their work wouldn't even be affected anyway. If they're on a farm, they're not wearing a collar.

It's also just plain safer for an elf to wear a collar. it shows other humans "I am claimed" like a wedding ring almost. Other humans will never try to steal another human's slave because there can be a whole mess of legal issues around property theft and damage.
OK, fair enough but it still seems impractical. I've noticed slavery societies have other ways asserting the slavers are on top.

You may have missed this, it's only in one or two story events, but Syl'anar is a powerhouse. They are essentially the US, China, and Australia merged together. Together with slave labor, they were able to build walking mechatanks during the industrial revolution while the rest of the world was still figuring out the printing press. Syl'anar is so culturally, economically, and militarily dominant within this world, that they essentially control it. They made the internet, and they currently make most of the world's consumer goods, like phones, robots, cars, planes, etc. To this world, everything is as it is because of slavery, and the best (worst) part is that the rest of the world doesn't even need to think about it since it's contained to Syl'anar only.
I did pretty much miss that. I knew Syl'anar is a powerhouse but I got the impression is was more of the up-and-coming powerhouse rather than an old school dominating power. I figured they were probably more than a match for any nation now, but in the past the MC's home country was the dominant power given the wealth of Capitol City and K-Dad.

Even so, the most powerful nations can be pressured: England was near the height of its Empire's power when it ended the international slave trade which several of their colonies depended on. Syl'anar would not go that far but at the same time they might feel some sense of not needing to put a spotlight on how elves are slaves with the collar requirement. It seems a bit inconsistent given that they are working with K-Dad to make the elfbots, which K-Dad and several forces in the Syl'anar openly hope will replace elf slavery.

It shouldn't be inconsistent, but I always welcome questions :) Remember, it is basically my whole life to just think about this world.

Police are not everywhere all of the time. You are more likely to encounter the police in downtown or the slums than on the beach.
In a way, I mean you go out with Lin all the time and she seems to not be wearing a collar, (except for her lace Maid Collar). Seems risky to me.

No one walking by Lin would know whether there was a steel band hidden under that lace.
A collar is on her, to anyone just glancing at her.

So they're a heavily corporatist country, with continuing disregard to individual rights, and the fauna there is trying to kill them?
It can be boiled down to a bad culture. The people in Syl'anar have shitty opinions that they take to the ballot box, which empowers more people with shitty opinions.

But of course that's not the only issue, it may just be the foundation of all of them though. Humans just outnumber Elves and are very comfortable with where they're at.

The Capitol is more of a mix of Paris and The Vatican. The city was founded and named around a government building, instead of the opposite like most civilizations are built. Actually you could even consider it a cult building. It was more or less built in the forest alone for specific reasons.

MC doesn't know about the culture or laws when he first enters Syl'anar, so he didn't enforce it at the beginning. And even as he becomes aware, MC says "They can fine me all they want, I'm not putting you in a collar in public."

You say 'inconsistent', where I think you mean 'I don't know'. I don't expect the player to understand or remember everything, but you are still implying here that I have done something wrong. I am happy to answer any and all lore questions you have.

There are many factors and ambitions at play in regards to Mr. Trenero and the replacement of elves. Characters in this story will very often lie to you, or just try to twist a situation. I want the reader to learn how to spot dogwhistles so small things can be included that are easily missable but you may realize was there the whole time on a second playthrough. I mean, if you knew what you were looking for, no one would be surprised that Maria turned out to be a half elf. Hints were there. In v0.17 you get to see more of Mr. and Mrs. Trenero's ambitions. Let's also remember that the true goal of slavery is to increase production and make money. So what happens when someone invents a robot that can do those things better? It's not a replacement of slavery, it's a replacement of elves.

It may also be important to note that the entire working class are slaves. It's completely synonymous in Syl'anar. There are exceptions of course. Even Kali took a slave's job at one point, and many poorer humans like Ashley's mom does work considered that of slave labor.

I haven't looked at any previews, so I don't know what's to come until it's actually here. That's why I try to phrase my suggestions based on what the current content is. I like the idea of them leading more than the MC/harem simply because of their existing roles but I've already suggested and preferred if someone entirely new was introduced specifically for the role. I don't think anyone we've met is qualified, even if their hearts are in the right place. Ultimately it'll depend on how the stories progress.

So did Felicity and now she's purring in the MC's lap. We need more story events with Slyvia before we'll really know how much the previous events have affected her to know how much she's changed or not changed. However based on current events, we've seen cracks in her routine which is a start. That's why I compared her more to a tsundere personality, as it's clear things are changing but she's still being bitchy.
I have no idea what is going on in that particular preview, though I have my suspicions, but I get serious Goldfinger vibes at best. That said, it was only a small part of my response, but it certainly adds to his lack of jugement and lack of care about others safety.

I agree, that most of them are not qualified, but two things about that. First, the we have time before it will be needed and some of them are maturing quickly. Second, not all good leaders were perfect when thrown into the office, some can grow into the job. And like was said before, I would prefer someone who is inexperienced and has their heart in the right place, than someone who has experience using people as tools and only cares about money and/or power.

I still would not put Felicity in charge of anything either though, she has improved, but she has not earned a position above 'pet' yet.

There are a number of tsundere, both Sylvia and Felicity have ojou personalities, and that is usually not good for a leader. Point is though, that we both agree, she is not ready yet either, but I would never make her the leader of all, I don't think she will ever be that qualified to me. Her shell is cracking, but she has not broken, and needs that before she can even start to be rebuilt. Like I said before, she needs a spanking more than all other elves in our ...employ, and I stand by that.

To be fair, she was raised for how long to think exactly that before she was tossed out? We've seen what kind of person she is and we've seen the kind of person she looked up to. She's got a long road ahead.
This is exactly my point. She was kind of a bad person before, she looked up to a bad person, and she is still kind of a bad person. She is no leader, and won't be any time soon. She cares more about herself than she does others, and like with K-dad, that makes her a terrible leader option.
Ok Terminator, dial it back a notch :O
...was a joke. :p

Since Lain is still MIA, I decided to give this game my Walkthrough / Cheat Mod treatment based off of her original mod.
I have revamped some of her mod work and updated other parts of her mod.

WARNING:
If you are having errors after loading a save from the previous version of the game then go back to the previous version of the game and Save In The Lobby.
Then immediately after you load your save in the new version Click The Bar Icon and your game should play without issue afterwards.

I'd like to thank you and apologize in advance as I'm sure this question may have been asked prior.

Your link provides 2 mods, I'm to assume the newer one, v2-TEST3, has more content.

I just wanted to inquire about the accuracy of my assumption and about the stability of the newer "TEST" mod

Due to health issues that made it impossible for him to do any work on any mods for an extended period of time, and the fact that Runey had upgraded a number of earlier scenes he is having to play catch up.

Rule of thumb: Using old mods can break games.
Mission 1 when he returned after medical treatment: Do what he could do quickly to make the basics of the mod work, without the game crashing.

Mission 2: work on upgrading components of the mod that now no longer match the game in the walkthrough.
That is still being worked on, because he also worked on mods for many other games, and the mod for Harem Hotel is far more complex than most mods.

Suggestion: wait a month or two for the next version of HH to be released, and by then he should have the mod caught up with the changes.

It's a test version, so it is basically a use at your own risk situation.
And that can mean anything from the game crashing, to any saves made with it installed, may not work with the next version of the mod installed in the next version of the game.
So, use it if you want, and if you find problems message him directly about it, and let him know the details of the problem.

Why do we need cheat codes in the game and it's so easy ...

DigDug69's post a few posts up sums it up well. The TEST versions are me trying to get the game caught back up with adding back in all the old WT content while the non-TEST version is the more stable release but is mainly for the 0.16.x content.

As for the TEST releases, you can read more about what is going on in my thread with the latest info here:

Why do we need cheat codes in the game and it's so easy ...
It's a WT and Cheat mod, it provides quite a lot. One thing many like is a significant cut down on the daily grinding for money as I changed it from what Lain did to a version were you inherit $8000 to make it much easier to get the bar upgraded ASAP to help you make residual money much more easily. I also changed Lain's money cheat into something funny if you still want easy extra money for things like the outfits and such. It's also a great way to know the when and where to talk to the girls besides tons of other things.

Check out the screen shots in the mod's post for a better understanding of what all the mod does plus for an extra play, wait for the TEST4 release later today and do a play through using that to see what all you might have missed just be sure if you do any save to not use your main save page.

while Lord Ashram’s work updating and improving the Mods is appreciated and has a dedicated following.

When you use a mod … you end up in the un-enviable position where you are pretty much “locked” into always using/needing it.
Then when Runey puts out an update you are in that “painful” limbo where the game version is ahead of the mod.

I completely understand how a mod adds and improves the Unmodded base product. For some base products (NOT HH) a mod is a MUST have because the base product is poorly designed/implemented.
Harem Hotel is well designed and implemented really well. The Mod while nice is NOT a requirement and when the update comes (relatively soon) you will be in that dead limbo spot where you won’t be able to play the latest version until the mod is updated to match… the mod update can happen in a day at best or it could be two month’s additional wait time.

LA has picked up maintenance of the mod and typically based on what I’ve seen is as quick as anyone to update it … but shit happens and having all your saves, update availability, and your game install tied to “mod only” is a choice each player must make for themselves.

I’ve definitely done it for numerous other games in the past.
some of which ABSOLUTELY require it … but based on what I’ve personally experienced with Harem Hotel … using the mod here isn’t a necessity

I’m sure it has positives.
Just don’t forget the negatives and be aware the avoidable position you are putting yourself in.

In the next 2hours or 2months when Runey puts out the next update a modded game will either work or not (to various degrees) and if it breaks you could be SOL for an indeterminate amount of time.

Next update could be really bad in that regard too, since there could be things like the phone and calendar being added soon. Not to mention some older events changing drastically again. It won't be a fast mod update this time either.

It's definitely not required but it does make the game much easier to play and a hell of a lot less grinding for money without doing manual cheats. Also I can almost guarantee most will miss content without the help of what I've done to the mod. It's one of the reasons it's taking me so long to re-implement the in-game WT context for the choices because I am having to go back through most of the game code to find the little things and add context when needed. Just look at my post before yours for example.

Also, people can still play the game with and without the mod at the same time, they just need to use a different Save Page for each.

BTW, TEST4 of the mod is now out.

I had thought about grabbing the latest BETA to see how much work I'm gonna have but I've been too busy so will just wait to see.

Given how long it is in between releases, I don't think many really care to have to wait a little longer to play; especially when they tend to need to really wait for the x.x.1 or x.x.2 update to really play the latest release. And I'm not just talking about HH either.
