It's not entirely dedicated to pirated games. As far as I know, stuff is removed when expressed by the author, and added otherwise.
That has nothing to do with what I asked though, because the Developer of this game has a Patreon, where they are asking for money, for making a product using a different game. It's one thing to use RPGMaker or Renpy for this stuff, because they have Open Licenses, I just wasn't aware that an old game like Honey Select allowed their assets to be reused in other "commercial" products.
I'm not saying we're going to get in trouble or anything, it just seems fishy to me, is all. Like the Developer is just begging to be shut down. People tend to get mad when their art is used in one of these games, I imagine the makers of Honey Select would feel the same way, unless I'm mistaken about the details on Honey Select content sharing.
As a game developer, I can't do it all. And I can't afford to hire anyone. I don't have the skills to make character models in Blender, and I have no clue to animate Blender models from scratch.
You may already know this, but just so everything is understood, when you're on a game development team, there's coders, modelers, animators, artists, etc etc. No one person does it all. A game designer needs to tell the artists to make some draft art so the modelers can model that, and the animators have to animate the model, the coders have to make the model walk, etc. So I have to be creative when it comes to filling in my lack of skill in certain areas. This is why you sometimes see pixel art in games. The developer is unable to afford or create better art (Unless it's a stylistic choice of course)
I'm unsure if using Honey Select models is "legal" but I know I'm not the first nor the last to do so, and nobody has ever gotten any reports or complaints about using assets from Honey Select in their game.
There's a specific engine on Honey Select that is designed to help the player create scenes. I'm not sure if it was intended for people to make games out of that, but it does exist, and that's what we use. It's essentially an RPGMaker or DAZ sort of thing.
As for this website being dedicated to pirated games, I don't know. But I do know I have no control over this game being posted here (Not that I mind, I love that its posted here). Today the $5 patron build was leaked here, I can't take it down. And it's really not a big deal for me at the moment as I'm making enough money on Patreon to feed myself.
