I'm unsure if using Honey Select models is "legal" but I know I'm not the first nor the last to do so, and nobody has ever gotten any reports or complaints about using assets from Honey Select in their game.
There's a specific engine on Honey Select that is designed to help the player create scenes. I'm not sure if it was intended for people to make games out of that, but it does exist, and that's what we use. It's essentially an RPGMaker or DAZ sort of thing.
Fair enough. I am aware that a few other games also use Honey Select, but I've never really seen anyone ask questions about the engine being used for commercial use, I was just curious, as I know Unity, Unreal Engine and what not don't care about about their stuff making money, but not about other companies. I'm well aware of the development cycle, that's why gaming engines exist, to make the life of developers easier and allow the creator of the engine to make money off something that would have otherwise been a one off thing for a game they made, but I know there's a lot of debate over "stolen artwork" these days, so I was just curious as a neutral bystander.
As for this website being dedicated to pirated games, I don't know. But I do know I have no control over this game being posted here (Not that I mind, I love that its posted here). Today the $5 patron build was leaked here, I can't take it down. And it's really not a big deal for me at the moment as I'm making enough money on Patreon to feed myself.
Yeah, as far as I can tell, most developers either hate or love their stuff being posted here, as it's basically free publicity and we pay attention/discuss everything about them. And, while I've been on Patreon forever, browsing Creators on there is a bit annoying, whereas sites like this one have a simple link that displays all recent content that was released, and usually threads dedicated to the really popular material (this thread having over 60 pages is a strong indicator to quality through it's following, for example). Plus, with the rules stating that creators must be displayed with all posted projects, we can always visit their real pages and follow their main stuff, which I often do for Patreons of stuff I like on here, sometimes even support.
As for pirated stuff, some people may buy obscure adult Japanese content and share them, or hack a similar mature game to add english/mods, but I don't think it goes far beyond that, and there are definitely rules to protect creators. I know I've seen a few threads here, where the developers were involved in or posted their content themselves, but only the public/free versions, and that decision is respected. I think that's why F95 is so popular, because despite all the unusual and erotic things that can be found here, it's not a scummy weird place found under a virtual bridge.
