Are we finally in an era where porn games weigh as much as triple A projects like Baldur's Gate 3?
You have to compare apples to apples not apples to legos.
So Short Answer NO.
Porn Games are legos … typically they use developed tools to create the product.
AAA projects like Baldur’s Gate has a studio with 20-2000 staff planting an orchard growing the tree and producing an apple. Where porn games use legos to approximate an apple with plastic bricks.
Don’t get me wrong the Lego apple is amazing but it’s not an apple.
Not to mention the fact that games like HH are a one person show or BaDiK (2-6 person iirc) vs ”*insert AAA Title*” 20-2000 people (bg3 Larian Studios has 450 people).
There are a few of the Lego apples (porn games) that are sized up (an apple the size of a 5gal bucket) or very realistic (super smooth lack of glaring Lego edges) and those are the few porn games that get to the 10-20gb sized downloads. But still they don’t approach the size of triple A studios products which can get to 100-200gb (finished product) depending (probably 10-20 TB before massaged into final product) … and those massive sized triple A studio products have a person on staff whose responsibility it is to try and constantly manage/smooth/re-use assets and keep the whole as ”lightweight” as possible while staying true to the “vision”.
Baldur’s gate 3 is 121.47 GB installed which to ME feels smaller or exceptionally well managed (size wise) than lots of other standard AAA titles … (granted I have no concrete experience with the code/content of BG3) … it could also have code be procedurally generated within the programmed framework.
Many many games use this trick to have their titles have “endless” levels.
